If this topic has already been discussed, I am sorry for being late due the game but with the current craziness with NIL and boosters do you think they can use NIL as a way to circumvent scholarship limits?

Say a booster gives a kid an NIL deal worth $50K a year and will pay all his tuition and stuff if he walks on and doesn't count towards the scholarship limit.

Teams can not only get the best players but also stockpile talent, or keep kids from going elsewhere.

Do you think this can be an issue in the future?

I think it can become a real issue with the portal.

So the Super Bowl is in SoCal this year. Only the site of some of the strictest covid restrictions in America. Its an INDOOR stadium, so I will laugh my ass off if it gets postponed or moved due to Omicron, or potentially, gets held with ZERO fans in attendance. This is an odd post for me, but some of you may recall about 6-7 months ago @N. Pappagiorgio shared a post here about my cancer diagnosis at the time. Given the subsequent outpouring of prayers and support directed my way, I thought I'd share some good news - at this time, I'm in full remission!

This actually happened last fall, following a brutal chemo regimen and (following the initial diagnosis of full remission) a 3-week radiation regimen to target any microscopic survivors in the lymphoma area. I've actually been slowly healing/recovering since then (some of my bloodwork will take up to a full year to recover completely), but I wanted to get past the first post-treatment checkup before I posted anything here.

Yesterday I went back to MD Anderson and had the first checkup PET scan, which again indicated full remission. That in turn allowed me to go in this morning and get the IV port removed from my chest and start to get back to normal exercise/activities. As any cancer patient knows, this is a long cycle of checks (every 3 months the first year, every 4 the 2nd, every 6 months years 3 to 5) and there are no guarantees but we could not have better news at this point.

Also want to thank everyone again for your prayers, offerings of support, etc. It's been a difficult stretch for me and the family but I can't express the gratitude I have for how folks have helped us out in this time of need. This board has been a daily source of much needed humor and distraction through this entire process - thank you all and Go Pokes!

I love to bag on both sides of the spectrum, as I think both sides are insane (at least the further left and the further right). However, I found this article interesting from a fiscal standpoint and population movement. I am interested to see if this trend continues into the 2030 census. There are other factors that I wonder in the short term if they are contributing (COVID-related remote learning rather than in-class setting, etc).

I believe … everyone needs to quit saying Corral – and others who played – did things “the right way,” because that would mean Kenny Pickett, Kenneth Walker, Chris Olave, etc. did things the “wrong” way.

I think … it takes a giant pair to fault a kid for preserving his investment and dreams by opting out, all while the coaches, the networks, the universities, the non-revenue athletes, the local business, the bowl people in the cool jackets, the t-shirt salesmen, the concession booths, the gambling world, the school fund-raising effort, etc. all generate hundreds of millions of dollars off the players.

I know … the opt-out answer is simple: money.

I believe … top players will eventually have NIL deals with clauses that pay more if they showcase their talents in a top bowl game.
