IN LATE JUNE 2019, right after the U.S. Supreme Court released its final opinion of the term, Justice Clarence Thomas boarded a large private jet headed to Indonesia. He and his wife were going on vacation: nine days of island-hopping in a volcanic archipelago on a superyacht staffed by a coterie of attendants and a private chef.

If Thomas had chartered the plane and the 162-foot yacht himself, the total cost of the trip could have exceeded $500,000. Fortunately for him, that wasn’t necessary: He was on vacation with real estate magnate and Republican megadonor Harlan Crow, who owned the jet — and the yacht, too.

For more than two decades, Thomas has accepted luxury trips virtually every year from the Dallas businessman without disclosing them, documents and interviews show. A public servant who has a salary of $285,000, he has vacationed on Crow’s superyacht around the globe. He flies on Crow’s Bombardier Global 5000 jet. He has gone with Crow to the Bohemian Grove, the exclusive California all-male retreat, and to Crow’s sprawling ranch in East Texas. And Thomas typically spends about a week every summer at Crow’s private resort in the Adirondacks.

The extent and frequency of Crow’s apparent gifts to Thomas have no known precedent in the modern history of the U.S. Supreme Court. These trips appeared nowhere on Thomas’ financial disclosures. His failure to report the flights appears to violate a law passed after Watergate that requires justices, judges, members of Congress and federal officials to disclose most gifts, two ethics law experts said. He also should have disclosed his trips on the yacht, these experts said.

Biden family takes millions from China and other foreign adversaries you say nothing, instead you're outraged with Clarence Thomas hanging out with some wealthy person? Something tells me this is all about politics for you
Citation to Biden taking millions from China?

Not currently.

So the Supremes are so special they don't need to follow any existing rules nor would they believe they should comply with new rules? Huh.

This smells funny to me "allowing the undisclosed acceptance of resort vacations and private jet travel, so long as the invitations were made by acquaintances, even if some other entity was underwriting the expense".

I don’t know about all of them but yes the ones on my team I will definitely be treating special in regards to news like this. Are you ok with that approach?

Now do Congress.

Citation to Biden taking millions from China?

Hundreds of SARS reports but you already knew that. How about the lavish vacations the Bidens take to wealthy donors properties? Are those a problem from you or just those for Republicans?
Let's stuck with the first one before we change the subject.
Now do Congress.

There it is. Historically the SC and judiciary isn't bought and paid for by lobbying, they don't rake in $$ on the side. It's been a different institution that held itself to a higher standard.

Was.

Got it SC Justices can't have friends and must live life as hermits if they are considered conservatives.

You think this influenced him in how he judges? One of his closest friends. Lol. I’d be more concerned about the conservative activist he’s banging. You know, his wife.

Former Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-West Virginia) has a very nice place north of Jackson. Beautiful view of the Teton range. Back in the 90’s, Bill and Hillary twice sponged free vacations from the Rockefellers. And good for them, I guess. Always nice to “know people”.

But can you imagine if President Clinton signed a bill into law that benefitted West Virginia after staying for free at their residence?

*GASP*
