86kg/189# Ed Ruth, Clayton Foster
97kg/213# Jake Varner, Dustin Kilgore
125kg/275# Tervel Dlagnev,Zach Rey

The event will be held in Los Angeles on Saturday 4/11 and Sunday 4/12.

Two OSU wrestlerson the team in Scott and Foster. Makes me wonder about Jordan Oliver and not making 65kg in his last tournament. I hear that Metcalf is beating Pico in the practice room but this is scuttlebutt only. I think we would be stronger if Jordan could make weight. He placed third in Georgia at a weight above 65kg.

Team USA has won its first two matches against Cuba and Russia. They will wrestle Mongolia today and if they win they will face either Iran or Azerbaizan in the finals. The Bronze and Gold medal matches will be carried by Universal Sports Network (USN) at 6:30PM central time and 8pm central time. This is channel 402 on Dish but it is also on Cox and directtv.
We defeated the Russians 17-16 yesterday due to the tech fall by Dlaganev. Coleman Scott has lost both of his matches. Ed Ruth is1-1 and Clayton Foster has not yet wrestled.

The US has won its first four matches against Mongolia including a 6-2win by Coleman Scott and with Burroughs coming up it appears that the US will be in the Gold Medal Match at 8PM Central time.

Jordan Burroughs wins 6-2and Clayton Foster instead of Ruth at 189 and trails 0-2 at the end of one.

Clayton Foster wins j2-2 by criteria of having the only takedown in the 2nd period and US leads 6-0 going into the last two bouts and will be in the Gold medal match. Jake Varner and Zack Rey are our last two wrestlers.

Dlagnev is wrestling instead of Rey and leads 4-0 early on. Dlagnev completes the 10-0 tech fall early in the 2nd period and the US sweeps Mongolia.

125 kg Tervel Dlagnev #8 Vs. Kornell Ghasemi #2

It is on USN starting at 6:30 Pm but apparently it is live starting now on the wrestling network and link to this is on the mat.com and it is free.

Apparently the Bronze medal match will be wrestled shortly and following that the Gold Medal match but hell, what do I know? I just watched the end of the Iran/ Aszerbaijan match which could not have been live as posters on other boards showed it finished an hour ago. if you go by rankihngs only then we would only be favored at 74kg where Burroughs is #2 and the 70kg match with Marable #11 and his opponent #10. Coleman is not ranked but his opponent is ranked #18 which appears on paper to be the next closest match.

Lets Start again Cuba is wrestling Turkey in the 7th place match and Belorussia vs. Mongolia in the 5th place match live on two mats now.

Iran is wrestling H. Rahimi at 57 kg against Tony Ramos of the U.S. He is the 2013 world champoion and bronze medalist in 2011 and 2014.

Coleman Scott was ahead 7-2 after one period and ends up losing 9-7 after Ehanpoor uses underhooks to single leg three times in the second period and US is down 0-2.

Brent Metcalf dec. the world silver medalist Esmailpour 3-1 on the only takedown of the match.US trails 1-2 with Marable at 70 kg coming up against #10 Hassan Yazdani Charati.

Marable basically gets pushed all over mat by the young Iranian and loses 3-1 on the only takedown of the match. Marable had two deep shots where he was around behind the Iranian but could not knock him off his feet. US trails 3-1.

Jordan Burroughs has a 10-0 tech fall early in the 2nd period after leading 6-0 after 1. US trailing 2-3 but got criterion points there if it ends up tied.

Foster gets the first takedown and that is it. Jouka gets the next six takedowns and ends it 12-2 early in the second period. Apparently Ed Ruth was injured wrestling the Russian yesterday. US has to win the last two matches and get some sort of Criteria as each team has one tech fall.

Jake Varner did very little for the first 5:50 of the match and was trailing #3 MohammedHossein Mohammadian 3-1 with less than 10 seconds when Varner explodes for the takedown and also had two near fall which they said time had expired but he wins on last takedown and US trail 4-5 going into heavyweight where we wresle # 2 Ghasemi. Come on Tervel!!

;You will not like the last update as Ghasemi wins 3-1 over Rey and Iran wins the world cup 6 matches to 4 for the US. Great effort by our team but the difference is that we lost two close matches to start it off and we could have won both and In Ramos case it was just by a hair he lost. Coleman Scott needs to go back to work on how to defend against the underhook. No problem with his effort but he gave up four takedowns on the same move.

No problem with his effort? Yikes man. He looked bad overall. He did some work against the Mongolian and had a nice toss in the finals but just caved other than the 2 minutes he came to wrestle. Definitely the worst US team member to wrestle this weekend. Am I wrong?

WildTurk, No argument from either me or I am sure Coleman. He did wrestle bad. The Iranian wrestler went back to the same move on 5 occasions and he had no answer for it. This however has nothing to do with effort. He had a long layoff due to injury and it is possible that he can not make it back fully. We both come from partisan positions and therefore see things differently. You may think that McDonough would have done better and we will never know but surely you do not think that the coaches would have gone with Scott for any reason other than he was better than the alternative.

USA wrestling said that Dlagnev was injured. Should have never seen the mat against Mongolia. Rey's only hope was to win a 1-0,1-1 defensive match. Sad
