I find it amazing that the sports world gets this but the real world doesn't. Broadcasters won't show the idiot who runs naked across the football field because the attention encourages others to do the same thing. But they will gladly give you ever detail (including ex-girlfriends, cousins, etc) of the sickos and give them at least one full 24 hour news cycle about them. I do believe it would help if the media left out the identifying details of the shooters when reporting the story.
