This is a great country full of wonderful people.
I know when we stay glued to the TV or cruise through the internet it can skewer our opinions because of all of the negativity that gets the attention, but my experience in the real world is that people are pretty great.

Whose sticking up for Russia? If she had Hashish oil on her she broke the law. Sorry but when you break the law, even laws in foreign countries you deserve to be punished.
On 9/11 my wife and I were on a plane headed to Singapore. When we landed in Singapore I will never forget the poster I saw getting off the plane. It was a vivid picture of a man that had been sentenced to death by hanging, hanging dead by a rope. It had the caption underneath the picture that said drug trafficking is punishable by death. That got my attention. When we got to the hotel we had an orientation meeting that explained the different laws that were strictly enforced. Things like making sure if you were chewing gum that you disposed of it properly. Seems if you threw your gum out on the ground and were caught the punishment was ten lashes with a cane. Again that got my attention. Moral of the story, just because you are an American doesn't mean you are not subject to the laws of the country you are visiting.
Has anyone actually denied that she did the crime? If so, I must have missed it. I've seen lots of statements about wrongful imprisonment, and that she's a bargaining chip for Russia to use in their war effort. But I haven't seen her lawyer, her wife, or anyone of substance actually state that she was not carrying hashish oil.
I'd also note that she was arrested nine days before the war actually started, so either Putin was strategically searching for such hostages (of which I would expect there to be many more than just Griner if that was the case), or she did actually do the crime, was arrested, but now is double butt****ed because in addition to Russians not ****ing around with this kind of crime and punishment, the US embassy has a significantly reduced capability to negotiate or support her given the war.
When she was at Baylor, she was always rumored to be an XXY individual who had a 'male' package. I was mildly curious whether Russia segregates their prisoners, and if so, whether she was in a male or female prison.
