I think you're going to see a Zain/Nolf/Nickal type of competition with Hamiti, Plott and Hendrickson.

Plott can't match the explosiveness and end-it-quick like Hamiti or Hendrickson, but Zain couldn't match Nolf or Nickal in that department either.

Great post. I got a laugh on the bolded part. Of the three PSU guys, I'd prefer to wrestle Bo. He'd make some spectacular move that you didn't see coming and put you out of your misery in 30 seconds. Nolf liked to play with his food before eating so it was a mini torture. Zain reminded me of a guillotine executioner who excelled in having his blade as dull as possible to inflict the most pain. No thank you.

I respect all three methods and I can certainly see a room competition starting at OSU on flashiest pin/throw and most bonus and most TDs. Healthy competition among teammates.

Well, Isn't it a little bit like apples and oranges. I like Hamiti's style a lot but then I really appreciate the strength and doggedness of Plott including his work ethic. Who knows what this season will bring as far as individual accomplishments but I harken back 3-4 years ago when Carter Young was defeating past national champions and runners-up. He has been off with injury and has experienced a growth spurt. I am going to pick him as my dark-horse candidate for OK State wrestler of the year. If he is he will have to beat out several wrestlers on our team who I predict will do well both in
the dual season and at Nationals. LETS GO POKES!!!

I really think, this year, we could see our entire team increase a tier or two on all levels. The psychological effect of having a new coach alone, will add a ton of confidence. Added to that, being that DT is bringing in a new fresh and more disciplined approach to weight management and technique, I truly believe we will be better than we are projecting.

I’m not sure how that was funny. Last year, having coach Scott, we jumped a level. We still had the same everything else but we had more structure. This year, we have personal Jet planes flying us to duals. 🛩️

Agree with this - based on last night, Hamiti could have subtly been the best. He was ferocious and on form.

I had a feeling he was going to show up. After the way he performed at the US open, I knew he had a little in the tank

I think it’s hard to judge how good Carter looked considering his opponent had a terrible gas tank and broke in the second period. After that point, it was just scoring off go-behinds which isn’t that telling of his offensive ability.

The thing I’m most interested Carter’s development is his ability to finish shots, which was a problem in the past. Hopefully the next few matches will give better insight there.

His ankle pick to the right and ankle push is the most creative technique of the past decade.

What's going to be interesting is if Hamiti has his stance motion cleaned up. He got killed by O'Toole because he couldn't defend an outside shot.

Hendrickson is just as athletic as Kerk, and needs to be on the opposite of Gable to make the finals.

Plott isn't "one dimensional" - he's just basic. HI-C, Single, Double and Double to a single. But he can attack both sides of the body.

For sure. Not to say, Iowa doesn’t have their style that works. Obviously a much different wrestler, but I think of Kaid Brock when I see Hamiti wrestler. Slick and able to pull very technically difficult moves out of his back pocket.
