I think your dead on right! In which I can actually understand....just sucks for the current wrestlers and fans! For Howe and Brewer to leave tells you something. Howe I can understand. The real kicker that stayed somewhat silent is that Lightner was all but out the door. How bad does it have to be with Cody for all 3 wanting to leave.

Yeah, Howe's a transplant. I appreciate his time here, and wish him well. But he's a Wisconsin kid at heart.

Brewer leaving hurts Cody the most. You have your own NCAA National Champion who wants to be here with you, but he chooses a different, more elite school because you snub him. I wonder what the timeline was on when he accepted and Howe left? If Cody snubbed Brewer because he thought Howe was staying at OU, I can see that. Howe is arguably a better catch on your staff. A 4x All-American like Brewer, Howe was a 3x finalist, finishing 3rd at his very worst. 1,2,2,3 trumps 1,3,7,8, success-wise. And Howe's doing very well in freestyle. He's just at an extremely tough weight. I have no idea about his coaching ability, but Matt Reed looked much improved from last year, and Clark Glass seemed to improve as well (although I think he's tapped out, potentially). I'll give him that one.

Lightner was all but out the door in order to be a Head Coach. I'm not sure it's fair to lump him in with the "I'm unhappy with Cody" crowd. A lot of assistants would leave at a chance to lead their own program.

It will be interesting to see who OU's staff will be next year. Is Maple disgruntled, or is he happy to stay with Cody?

I agree pretty much on all points. I think Brewer leaving was more based on Lightner staying. They would of needed a light weight coach if Lightner left which more then likely would of pulled Sam away too. I am not knocking OCU but I think if he really pushed he could get a d1 job. I see things the other way....with his personal situation he really wanted to stay in OK but really wanted a change thus the OCU. Again, just my take from what I see internally. Maple is going from volunteer assist to head assist from what I learned. And with the new baby it was an easy choice. They certainly need an upper weight coach from 84 up but, then again....that was to be Marks speciality. Not sure yet who they are chasing for coaches, heard a few names....none that give you the WOW factor yet.

OU certainly hasn't improved under Cody, but I'm not so sure they have slid from where they were under Spates either.

Hopefully Cody gets it figured out, or OU makes a change.

he turned American U into a top 10 team, i'd think he'd work wonders with OU what exactly has changed with him?
