Cliff Notes version of the article:

If President Trump was doing what the Dems claim, this could even be an impeachable offense.

Why? Because, on the surface, it may appear that Trump has violated indeed this clause by accepting a gift worth $400 million from the emir of Qatar.

But this bogus charge overlooks several facts:

  1. Despite claims to the contrary, this new Air Force One will become the property of the Department of Defense’s U.S. Air Force, to be flown and maintained by the Air Force squadron based at Joint Base Andrews (formerly Andrews Air Force Base) that provides a variety of VIP transports for presidents and cabinet members, as it has done since the Eisenhower Administration.
  2. Trump has pledged his own personal wealth to help convert this flying palace to an aircraft more fitting to a president than a king. It will be compete with aerial protection devices – thankfully too top-secret to mention, except as “informed guesses” – also including top secret, highly-secure communications gear, allowing the president to conduct the affairs of state while in the air.
  3. After Trump completes his second and final term of office, he has pledged that the plane will be donated to the Trump Presidential Library. It might, like Reagan’s own Air Force One, to be literally built into the facility. There is precedent for this. One of the earlier models of Air Force One, in its military guise of VC-137A.
  4. When it was retired, it was literally built into the Reagan Presidential Library, along with one of the President’s VIP helicopters.
  5. Trump is accepting this gift on behalf of the United States, just as President Grant accepted the Statue of Liberty from the Emperor of France, way back in 1876. Other presidents have accepted gifts from foreign nations and leaders, but always on behalf of the American people. Both the Clinton Presidential Library and the Reagan Presidential Library – I’ve seen them both, in detail – display hundreds, perhaps thousands of gifts made by countries, potentates and others to the American people. All perfectly legal.

Sounds like the Prez got caught with his pants around his ankles and had to scramble to make everything “legal.”

If Biden (hell anybody else period) did this, this board would be losing their ever-loving minds. The legality can (and will) be discussed by those that have action in what happens, but this board would be going bonkers if anybody other than Trump did this.

I think you’ve got me on ignore, so I may be wasting my time writing this, but just in case you see it I wonder if you can answer a couple of questions.

Regarding your first bullet point you say the plane will be used to transport “presidents and cabinet members.” “Presidents.” Plural. Isn’t there only one president? Who are the others?

You say Trump will use his personal wealth to convert the plane into something more fitting for a president than a king. Why will he do that when he already has Air Force One at his disposal?

You mention the former AF1 in the Reagan museum. Since you have made the tour I hope you know the answer: was Reagan the only president that used the plane in his museum? If the new jet is so vastly superior to the existing AF1, why wouldn’t the government use it for the next couple of presidents?

Be mad at Boeing like I am for not being able to complete their Contract yet already have the money but they need more. Go figure! Another Gov't Contractor Milking us dry! The Gov't has plenty of money to burn lets ask for more! Good grief.
You wanna bail them out or take a free Plane?

Would you be praising Biden if this same situation occurred?
