I don't see how even sensible people on the left find this funny. If it were Obama, I wouldn't chuckle.

1. Trump stated beforehand that he would not take a deal that didn't include a verifiable path to denuclearization.
2. Last week the narrative was the he would take a bad deal to distract from fake news, or be flattered into a bad deal because he's stupid.
3. Kim thinking Trump was desperate to make a deal (because fake news) over played his hand and Trump walked.
4. Now, after Trump walking, the narrative is that he came home wit no deal because he's stupid.
5. This is exactly what Reagan did with Gorbachev.
6. NK has zero leverage. Sanctions are killing them. They are down to a barter economy at this point.
7. Trump is prepared to wait lil rocket man out.
What is difficult to understand here?

Smart people predicted that Trump would engage in de-nuclearization dialogue with Kim and won't give anything in return for nothing? Yes, that's exactly what smart people predicted would happen and they were right. What's the issue?
So dumb people counting up Nobel Prizes means walking away from negotiations because North Korea wasn't willing to offer what Trump was seeking is Trump failing?
Israel can handle Iran. We didn't need to give Iran a thing.
It’s not about Kim being stupid. It’s about what his family has calculated as necessary for survival.
America literally bombed North Korea back into the Stone Age. Bombed until the generals told Truman there was nothing left standing to bomb. Bombed until a sizable portion of the population was reduced to living in caves. The country was annihilated.
Kim’s family has sworn they would never let that happen again. That’s the primary reason they have tried to develop nuclear technology and missile technology in the first place, to be a deterrent from anyone interfering with them again.
America has tried for decades to reach a deal with them, has promised them the moon, given them concessions in exchange for unkept promises. The Kim family has never trusted America to keep its word, and with good reason.
They watched as America promised what’s-his-name in Libya we would leave him be if he would disarm. He disarmed and we set up curcumstances to have him murdered. The Kim family does not trust America to not do the same thing to them.

That may have been the biggest non-military foreign policy disaster of our lifetime, but because who was running the show, it’s no big deal.
But Trump negotiating with North Korea? Epic disaster according to some for vague and shifting reasons.
Yeah, that was one of the stupidest things any president has ever done.
Obama and Clinton armed and supported al Qaeda to oust and murder Gaddafi who was fighting to keep al Qaeda out of Libya. Hillary Clinton said this was necessary "to prevent genocide." So, we had our ally in the fight against al Qaeda murdered to help al Qaeda.
As if that wasn't dumb enough, they then armed and supported al Qaeda in Libya to try to do the same damn thing to al-Assad. What made that more spectacularly stupid was that al-Assad was also fighting ISIS. The dumbassery didn't end there though. We then armed and supported the Kurds to fight ISIS which lead to the Kurds also fighting the very al Qaeda that we armed and supported to fight al-Assad.
It takes a special kind of stupid to lend support to terrorists to overthrow governments, including one who was an ally in the fight against terrorists. I know you know all of this but I wanted to lay it out here because we have at least one poster in this thread who actually agreed that this was all a great idea.
I wonder what Libya and Syria would look like today if we had just done something logical and supported Gaddafi and the Kurds...
