Surely...I certainly hope...this 51st state thing is a tool for negotiating trade and border security. No way would Republicans want Canada as a state...it would be an instant Democrat mind set state. The prez needs to stick with tariffs and move away from state building. There is enough to do without that distraction...unless that is what he is wanting....a distraction.

Who says Canada would be 1 state? If you brought them in, you could potentially bring in each of the Provinces as its own state. WIth the appropriate gerrymandering, you could basically ensure Republican control of the Senate for the next 40 years.
