I think the problem with him and those conservatives like him was shown when he stated "those folks on the other side were my friends".
He had thought some on the left were his friends but he found out that they never were and that they were using him for thier own ends

Agree, it used to be that our Congressmen could disagree on policy and then go to dinner and discuss things they can reach agreement on. A few Rs were still in that category and got their ****ed over the last 10 years or so.
