Trump Fires Acting Attorney General

Now that right there is funny... Trump making Nixon look like a brilliant crisis manager.
Acting AG defied following the law for purely political reasons.

Obama would have done the same damn thing to a Bush appointee in reverse scenario, but he wouldn't have had to because the nominations were confirmed in a timely manner.

Define this timely confirmation process... you can start with the last nominee and work backwards if you like.

David Allen can you not just say meh she must not have wanted her job to give yourself a little bit of credibility? I guess you said Nixon not Hitler so you can be considered moderate based on our post reality standards.

You old enough to remember the Saturday Night Massacre? Nixon move to fire the AG. Unusual to say the least. Couple it with the threat to State Dept Dissent Cable signees. Quite the day for team Trump.

Get those disloyal democrats out of their damn positions so they can't continue to work against progress.

"You're Fired!"

AG isn't Trump's or any President's personal lawyer.

The job takes an oath to uphold the law and the Constitution.

If she really felt this EO violated the law and the Constitution and was willing to lose her job as a result of that belief, more power to her.

Trump's perfectly within his power as well.

She was leaving anyway.

And if she's a political hack, she deserved to have her unprofessional ass fired. Right?

Sure.

Just to be clear though, she was probably getting fired as soon as Sessions was confirmed anyway. That's the way of the world at the US Atty's Office.

He should have never left her there in the first place. All he did was give her a stage and limelight.
I guess I'm confused on what part of the Constitution Trump wasn't upholding to make her say what she did.

And guess who finally Nixon found that lacked the stones to stand up to him, and assisted in the cover up?

Robert Bork. The wingnuts always scream how he was treated unfairly in his SCOTUS nomination, but never mention how he was the lone indian left that actually tried to help Nixon cover it up.

You sure that was a law she didn't think was defensible? You might want to check your facts...

Nixon Schmixon. He was a boy scout compared to your heroes the Clintons.

FiIFY

Bill wasn't bad. But he governed in a largely pre-terror bubble economy where he did not face the tests the next 3 guys would.
short memory? will give you "pre-internet" - social media and alt-news would have destroyed him, rest though is incorrect.

A minority of the American people. Most Americans didn't vote for him. He lost the popular vote by 2,800,000.
Who said I was counting them? They were not the smart ones who sent president Trump to Washington. Even with all of the illegals in California voting for Hillary Clinton you still lost. I know that must make for a special kind of butthurt.

The acting AG, along with every justice department employee, are part of the Executive branch. Every one of them knows that they must carry out the policies of the POTUS, in whom the Constitution of the U.S. invests ALL of the executive power of the U.S. government. If they find those policies too egregious to carry out or believe that they violate the Constitution they must resign. To stay on and work against the President is sabotage.

Yates was fully aware of this. She was also fully aware of which way the political winds are blowing amongst her lefty brethren and was planning on leaving imminently at any rate. She knew the cache that her grandstanding would bring and chose to do it rather than doing what all Justice Department officials know is the right thing to do when they have such a strong disagreement with the President's policies.
