Tom Cole the swamp creature from Oklahoma.

What's the skinny on A.G. Drummond? He voices support for Trump's border policies, but, other than that, I don't know much about him. Someone like him could beat a Lankford in the primary. But I hear Drummond is going to run for governor.
I've been in Texas for 40 years. Don't know a thing about Oklahoma politics my man. Texas AG Paxton's a boss down here though. Texas legislature has impenetrable as long as I've been here.

There's not one single Paxton type Republican in the entire state of Oklahoma.

I remember your story and have thought of it many times. I've repeated it to folks with whom I've discussed similar topics. Cole is a big-time fraud. Lankford is, too. Lucas is worthless. Each spends every waking hour with their finger in the wind trying to fly in under the radar. The last time any one of them made the national news for trying to do something, it was Lankford and his border bill which would have institutionalized in perpetuity over 5,000 illegals per day across the southern border.

Supposedly, they spend 80% of their time in DC working on getting reelected.

Lucas is my gerrymandered US Rep. I'm neutral with him. It used to be the swamp creature Tom Cole when I lived in Grady Co.

Markwayne Mullin seems to have become a little better as a senator of late, but there's a guy who IMHO got off to a rocky start in the House. To this day, I hold my breath when reading his latest comments - some good, some questionable.

My unsettled trust goes back to (among other things) his witnessing and defending Ashli Babbit's murder and telling constituents that taxpayers don't pay his salary - that he pays for himself. Kinda rubs me the wrong way. I know he's a businessman, but saying that was like giving the middle finger and saying he doesn't represent his district.

All that said, I'll vote for him again if that's my best choice. I'll remain an independent.

I have said it for years, one hand washes the other, good cop bad cop usually but most Dims mean it now when playing the bad cop because they are just that. About all we get from Republicans is a strongly worded face time rant on the news or in a hearing thats just theatre and nothing more. How many times have we heard it? "We are looking into it and they will be held accountable" About the only time we hear about any of them being held accountable is when one of them got stupid or greedy then a scapegoat is born. And even those are few and far between.
The Corruption has finally been exposed yet nobody has been held accountable. They all just kick the can down the road like they always have done.
If anyone thinks otherwise you are fooling yourself. If you think Treason Charges are coming for any of them then you are in for a rude awakening.
Taxed and worked to death while they waste money and become millionaires then beg for your vote after doing nothing for you. Efff em. 😁

I agree that is was a typical GOP bait-and-switch show. There were many Dems present as well as dangerous independents like me who needed to have a body guard stand over me for winning the Stump the Chump contest.

I registered as an independent when China was granted "Permanent Most Favored Nation Trading Status" in 2000. This Tom Cole event was in 2004, just months before the plant were I worked was shutting down and moving to China. I'm still pissed at the GOP and the Dems for kissing China's asss and selling the USA down the river. It's why I still support Trump 100%. Trump is a genuine America-first patriot.

Set aside your phony, insecure swagger for a moment and answer these questions please.

Questions 1 &2: The 2023 US trade deficit was 945 billion dollars. Is that "fair trade"? What exactly was traded if we were almost a trillion dollars in the hole last year?

Question 3: Why do you think that is a stupid question?
I would like to answer your questions because IMO you are making a classic mistake in understanding trade.

1) What was traded was 945 billion dollars in exchange for 945 billion dollars worth of goods, many of which were used in the manufacturing process to create other goods for sale. The receiver of the goods would not have made the trade had he not known he would profit from it.

2) I would not say it is a stupid question. It's more along the line of ignorance of trade. You seem to be of the opinion that the person doling out the cash somehow lost in the transaction. Not true! When you dole out cash to the neighbor boy to mow your lawn you are making a trade very similar to when American company "A" doles out cash to foreign company "B" for products its prefers over the cash. The neighbor boy got your cash and you got your lawn mowed. Did you feel you lost in the exchange? A trade involves two entities (not countries) exchanging a value for a value at a profit for each.

Dan, two things. Your example is one of trading service for money, not goods for money. I don't think Trump has put any tariffs on services. The other is that in your last statement, you typed (not countries). Do you think foreign trade happens without government involvement?

Ask a stupid question and get a stupid answer. Sounds like a typical GOP Q&A.

What was stupid about the question?
There are no stupid questions. There are zillions of stupid answers.

I figured when I wrote that someone would make the distinction between goods and services as if it makes a difference when trade is the subject. I should have talked about a product not a service. So let me make an amendment. When you dole out cash at Home Depot for a new hammer the trade is cash for a hammer. You need the hammer more than the cash. You doled out the cash but that does not make you a loser.

Individuals or companies are the ones making trades, not countries. A country is neither a winner nor a loser, it just interferes.

Does Home Depot charge huge tariffs on their goods?
