A post by @Indy about depth made me think more about our relative lack of OL depth compared to OU and some other league counterparts. We all understand the Cowboy Back position was intended to add a dimension to this offense; however, the results have been inconsistent at best, and nonexistent at worst. We’re bringing more defenders into the box while we try to establish the run. It makes no sense. And I think big Sione is the only one who can block.
IMO, it is high time we dissolve the Cowboy Back position, devote those allocated scholarships to more O-lineman and move Coach McEndoo somewhere he’s more suited on staff. Maybe co-run coordinator or something. I do appreciate the sacrifices and efforts of all of our C-Backs, but it’s time to find a different facet of this offense to focus on. The goons are going to keep stockpiling quality OL while we search for the next 6’4 220 lb. kid from Foraker. We have to make a fundamental change. Just my $0.02.
