Looks like he's the guy. I'm OK with that, would have preferred Barrett.

Very consistent conservative. Will be very hard for the RINOS to oppose. Safe pick but gets the job done for conservatives.

When RBG drops dead that's when Trump goes for Barrett and things go nuclear.

100%

I thought it would be him and I have no idea who he is or who the other 4 were. Didn't think it would be the gal as she didn't have the experience. The thimble full of info I paid attention to made me think Kavanaugh would be the logical choice.

He was the favorite when I posted the odds right after Kennedy announced his retirement. He's the safe pick, former clerk for Kennedy.

Another Yalie, though.

Solid choice, IMO.

Might not make the MAGA crowd jump with joy though. Maybe arguing he’s a Roberts style potential turncoat.
Just saw axios listed him as the 2nd most conservative Justice way right of center. That tells me he’s probably right of center by a little bit.

He’s more conservative than right of center “by a little bit”.

I would say more conservative than Kennedy by a bit.

I would say Alito, Thomas, and probably Gorsuch are more conservative than him. He’s along the lines of a Roberts, IMO. Hard core MAGA crowd might slur him as being an “establishment” choice.

Shit like this is really dumb for the left leaning media. The right sees it and they are more energized by a “very conservative” pick.

‘several opinions reigning in the administrative state..’

Interesting

Gonna be a big case on civil forfeitures before criminal convictions next session. Also another one on excessive fines and fees for incredibly minor crimes that may make it on the docket as well.

As long as liberals are crying, I’ll assime it’s an excellent pick.
Yep. Just watched video of Sen Booker, Warren, and Sanders yelling and crying on the steps of the Supreme Court. They being upset made me really believe Kavanaugh was the right pick.... at first.

But then I realized they would be upset of any Trump nominee.

Question: McCain voiced support for Kavanaugh. Why can’t he vote from AZ?

This practice infuriates me. We currently have a judge in Washington county that is doing this.

Pre-conviction and even pre-charge civil forfeitures are troublesome to me.

Affidavits of non-ownership on piles of drug money to get favorable discretion in plea negotiations and charging decisions are not...neither is RICO civil forfeiture laws, post-conviction forfeitures, or holding alleged drug money as evidence during criminal proceedings.

You have to be present to vote. Quote counts and open voting rules/laws.

That’s a good thing in my book.

With our tech today he should be able to

In fact, there’s no reason for congress to almostvalways be in DC

Consolidated so the critters can be more easily fed by special interest

amazing to me someone can get pulled over not charged with a crime and have to process thru legal proceedings to get their money back

the situation illustrates how legally emboldened prosecutors can be when given latitude

then after watching this mueller dragnet nothing is surprising

He should step down and allow Arizona to replace him.
I heard they are going to appoint his wife to fill his term. She's from an uber wealthy family that is probably responsible for McCain hooking up with Soros.

Interesting pick by Trump. This is definately not a "drain the swamp" pick. Kavanaugh is a big time Washington insider. He is as establishment as they come. He is also a Bush loyalist. I am actually surprised Trump supporters seem to be praising this pick.

Clearly, Trump decided to play it safe here. Someone like Barrett would have been more troublesome and would have created more problems during the nomination process. Kavanaugh is easier to sell.

With that said, there are some questionable/worrisome areas in Kavanaugh's history that Democrats will and should address. This isn't a problem-free nomination.

But yeah, Trump went all establishment with this pick.

First, let's hope RBG doesn't just drop dead. Second, I think it is highly doubtful a pick like Barrett would ever replace RBG.

This was Trump's moment to make a pick like Barrett (which would be a very contentious pick). But instead, he played it safe and went with an establishment insider.

Or he could very well pick Barrett to replace RBG when she drops dead. Weird how that works.

I’ve heard Trump didn’t want a risky pick that would be drawn out past the November elections for fear of democrats rallying their voters around it.

Or he may not even get to choose RBG's replacement.

Like I said above, this was Trump's moment to make a Barrett pick. Barrett would have been a tougher fight, but this was a moment for it if he wanted it. We don't know what the Senate is going to look like come 2019 and RBG could very well outlast Trump.

Would you support a Barrett-type nomination Medic?

Well I think it is apparant Trump didn't want to deal with the mess a Barrett pick could have caused him. He is hoping the establishment insider goes over better.

Still, there is a lot of assumptions going on with the dream of Barrett replacing RBG. Not to mention that Trump could have made the Barrett pick now and rallied his Christian right voters around it for November.
