I’m not gonna say how bad they are that is a given. Perhaps the worst I’ve ever seen.
But the one excuse in defense of Nardo I’ve seen out there is that Nardo wasn’t allowed to run his 3-3-5 defense.
That’s fine, however, there were times we did run it last year and it was terrible. I’m not sure we should ever move to a 3-3-5.
But even more than that any competent DC should still be able to run a defense that doesn’t look this bad no matter if you’re running your base defense or not. In other words, our issues are way deeper than what scheme we are running. The basics and fundamentals needed to run any defense no matter the scheme look terrible.
Our issue is much deeper than our scheme on that side of the ball.
And besides that if he were a decent DC we would at least look somewhat decent on that side of the no matter the scheme.
If Gundy keeps Nardo there is no hope on that side of the ball. He simply has to be let go and we need to go hire someone that will run whatever scheme OSU wants to run but run it well, but more importantly coach these kids up fundamentally and get them to believe in themselves and return some pride to that side of the ball.
It’s pathetic watching our defense play.
