Have no clue who Clinton is besides Bill and Hillary, but I am proud to support this bill that allows a woman to make her own decisions regarding HER health and life as well as what to do with HER pregnancy when the fetus is no longer viable.

This is why decisions such as this should be made by providers, physicians, and the mothers and fathers that are involved. When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of physicians, more than one physician by the way, and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus which is non-viable. So in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother.

My son was diagnosed with holoprosencephaly in utero. My wife and I were told that he would not breathe spontaneously at birth and would never have any cognitive function. He didn't have a cerebrum. We chose to withhold resuscitation when the time came for him to be born. My wife was induced at 32 weeks because of his head size from the hydrocephalus. He never took a breath, never moved, had no signs of life except a heart beat. He died shortly after birth.
My wife and I aren't murderers. We're simply compassionate people who chose to let nature take its inevitable course instead of possibly inflicting pain and suffering on our son who would never have any life sustaining or meaningful brain function on his own just for the sake of doing something.
It was unfortunate, but I have 2 great daughters. We celebrate his birthday every year.
My wife and I have some very religious people in our families. Not a single one thought we were murdering our child by choosing to induce labor 8 weeks early and withholding resuscitation. My wife wanted to hold him so we chose birth, but I can see where other people might choose differently than we did.

That article is biased to 20 weeks of gestation. How many of the abortions over 20 weeks occurred from 20-23 weeks? 20 weeks is an arbitrary cutoff when the age of fetal viability is generally accepted as 24 weeks gestation.

Deciding to not put a newborn with a fatal condition on life support at birth is no different than you signing a do not resuscitate for yourself or a terminally ill family member. It should always be the choice of the parents, spouse, family etc based on information from physicians. In my son's case, putting him on a ventilator for x period of time would have done nothing but prolong the inevitable. I'm sure we could have kept him alive for quite some time with a ventilator, feeding tube, etc, but what's the point? There was a zero percent chance of any meaningful outcome.
My wife and I met with one of the neonatologists at the hospital a few days before she was induced. She was the neonatologist that would be on duty the day labor was induced. She refused to honor our request that no resuscitation be provided. We fired her on the spot and the hospital nursing staff contacted another neonatologist at the hospital that would honor our request. He came in on his day off to provide compassionate care to my newborn son.
