The Skins are Now on the Wall.

I’m going to shamelessly bump this because I think IT IS THE storyline.

We were selling hope and potential this year with DT but what happened Sat night was what HAD to happen for us to ever have a chance at running down PSU…. Well it happened. It’s a whole new world boys and girls. We’re the most storied program in history and we’re just getting started.

Iowa finishing 4th after many years under the Brands and putting unlimited resources into their program, has got to hurt.
First year under DT and we finish 3rd with two champs and only one year of coaching, that’s icing on their very expensive cake.

I just haven’t had time.

But yes, there were/are tons of people looking at the greener grass this weekend and especially the 24 hours since the finals.

One guy, who lost in the BR just made the finals. Another guy, a veteran became an AA.

Two more had storybook Titles. Saturday night was so big it’s unreal!

There was alot of hope for Dean due to his close match with MM and his attacking style but the guy was 6th, 6th and a loss in the bloodround… @Pennstate1985 is the man but it’s a bit revisionist to just say he was a top 3 guy the whole time. He made massive gains.

As for Wyatt… NO ONE (and I mean no one) thought he could beat Greg or Gable. Hell most people were saying he’d lose to Bastida if healthy. The jumps he made fundamentally were off the charts.

This stuff can’t be understated and they all noticed.

I said he’d beat Kerk!

I was prepared to go 0-3 in the finals and still make the strong and clear argument that DT laid down the marker needed in this first year. Could of made this exact post had that occurred.

6 AA’s and 3 finalists and the clear improvement for so many guys including the immediate jumps from the transfers was going to send a message to future portal entrants and the wrestling community as a whole that any quiet concerns about this transition were nothing and that OSU was indeed on the quick and clear path to being “back”

Then…. Saturday night happened and the whole wrestling world got turned on its head. I mean PSU is still THE program of college wrestling right now and what they did this year is incredible and they aren’t slowing down but ALL the talk, discussion and buzz coming from this weekend centers totally around Wyatt, DT and Oklahoma State Wrestling.

It’s incredible and you couldn’t have dreamed or scripted it. It will go down as a pivotal moment for our program and AD as a whole.

Dude... yes

More than that, it's been a long several years of unknowns. AJF getting injured in 2021 and seemingly losing his mind, wondering if/when OSU wrestling would be a contender again, anticipation around John's retirement... and now we have new staff, new champs, new support, new direction. It's pretty awesome to revel in all of that.

💯 but as you said it was an argument… there is no argument now. High level kids want a few things out of an opportunity but most of all they want to win individual championships. They now know for a fact that they can get that in Stillwater. They can be coached at a different level and take down anyone while wearing OSU Orange. Stacking those types of individuals with those types of goals is what will allow us to run PSU down.
