Romney wasn't a conservative when he ran against Obama and he isn't now. He and Kristol are members of the establishment and they see negative consequences for themselves from a Trump victory. Romney, besides having some personal beef with Trump, is an establishment politician who, like all politicians although they won't admit it, see that once an outsider gets in it means a non-politician non-lawyer non-indebted (as in beholding not broke) person has seen the establishment ceiling broken and can run and even win. Kristol sees his influence, tickets to the DC galas, and guest appearances on News shows being not as frequent and as followed now. Nor will what he pontificates seem as important. This is a whole new playground being carved out against their and the rest of the establishment's wishes. This election cycle gives back some influence over the political class. I hope it continues on all levels of society. Government's in state and local areas need to feel the "burn" on their cozy arses.
