I've done this a thousand times in 47 states. 99% of the well educated cannot teach me to count US currency. Our costly, miserable and failing public education system does not teach the structure and history of the US buck. One of my sixty questions and directives: Name the unit of length upon which the US dollar is based. Meter is the correct answer.

.99 cents is not 99 cents. .99 cents is 99/100 of one penny. The US was first with a decimal/metric ciurrency. Now go out and find an educator or bank employee who can teach me to count US currency. During my 12 years as a "professional tourist" I found under 1%.

Russia was first with a decimal currency in 1704. 100 kopeks to the rubal. US first with decimal/metric currency. 100 cents and 1000 mills. I don't think I ever got through to David.
