High school Recruiting class:
Mekhi Ragland
Ben Ahmed
Ryan Crotty
Quick thoughts on high school guys - if we want to make the tournament I think we stop here with high school recruits. We need portal guys ready to play now. Having said that Crotty will probably be ready to help out from day 1. Guy can shoot. With Ragland and Ahmed you have very similar frames and will either one be ready to help?
Both need strength and conditioning in a bad way right away. Need to get both on campus as soon as possible. Not exactly sure on their heights and weights. Have seen Ragland at 6’11 335 and Ahmed at 6’10 300. Ahmed moves better and gets off the floor better. Both of them see the floor very well for big men. Ahmed seems more ready to see the floor early and can score the ball.
If we don’t lose anybody that means we have 5 spots open. What do we need? In my opinion we need it all still. Almost every position.
We need a guard that can do it all. Dean and Keller seem limited. They both have strengths but all around struggle with something. If Dean could shoot better he would be a big time player. Keller just needs overall work but is a good athlete. We need a guard that can shoot the ball.
I expected more out of Jennings to be honest. Because he hasn’t really become what we needed it would be nice to get a power forward who is a level above him and he come off the bench.
With our youth at the center position it would be nice to actually have Abu back. But that isn’t the case. So it would be nice to get someone like Abu to be the starter allowing us to bring Ragland and Ahmed along but one of them is going to have to play next year. Maybe both?
We need some wings that can be dynamic. Chi chi is the closest thing we have to it and he is so inconsistent but we need a few guys like that who can shoot the ball.
We need a lot still but we really need to push to make the tournament in Lutz second year.
