Evidently they are looking at Keith Ellison as a chairman (because he's a black Muslim), and want to move the party further left as a contrast to Trump's mythological far right policy.

I think that's a really dumb plan, but where can I vote for it?

The further left they move, the more independents are repulsed by them. My wife is your textbook independent. First time ever she didn't vote for POTUS and first time ever she didn't vote for the Democratic candidate. She's been calling out the media's and the Democratic Party's rampant hypocrisy for months and is really amused by what her "progressive" friends put on Facebook. If the Trump tape had not been released she would've voted for him.
