Terence Crutcher was on pcp

War on cops? I've defended cops in a court of law, both on the civil and criminal side. I reject your attempt to reduce my opinion or worldview to a binary analysis. I am pro- good cop, pro-citizen, anti-bad cop and anti-criminal.

Good for you.

Might be good to consider what you're trying to communicate when painting with the brush you've chosen.

This reminds of the thread where people Can't visualize their thoughts. I just don't think liberals and conservatives are working with the same ingredients. Obviously I think one is better than the other, but I think bville has as much pity for my thought process than I do for his. We are just born a certain way where some things are so obvious and they just never will be to the other person.

Based on how some here perceive your posting history...I say Nay Nay.

You are asking what steps a random guy could have taken to prevent a tragedy. Bville is asking what steps a public servant, paid by tax dollars, accountable to the public could have taken to prevent a tragedy in a world full of random people that sometimes do PCP.

The difference being that no one on the opposite side of the discussion from Bville is suggesting that the officer shouldn't be accountable for her actions, while Bville sure seems to be suggesting that Crutcher isn't for his.

Maybe she did take steps to prevent a tragedy? Right now we don't know all the facts. We at least know he was on pcp, not following orders, reaching in his pockets, and unarmed. The video doesn't look good for her, but it's only telling part of the story. If she was negligent then throw her in jail.

I am sure Bville would be OK with Crutcher facing charges for PCP possession.

The shooting cop would be fine that as well.

Tell me, Pilt, where does the locus of control kick in for instances like this, and the person who got shot at one time had the ability to influence an outcome other than death?

Maybe she prevented something more tragic from happening.
Very true. Crutcher could have sired a baby that evening that would grow up to become a mass murder. Tragedy averted.

Yes, that's what I was getting at. Good one.

Regardless, we can all rest assured if there's any evidence that justifies the authoritarian shooting the ethnic minority, Squeak will make sure it gets out there. He's good like that.

The police that represent me are in my locus of control (to a degree), and the guy who decided to do PCP is decidedly outside of my locus of control. For me the question is how should the state treat its citizenry, not how should the citizenry (other than myself, obviously) treat its state.

I thought it went with out stating, that it is dumb as hell to do PCP and give the police even the slightest excuse to shoot you. But, again, a lot people are dumb as hell and it is a waste of time Monday morning quarterbacking them.

It sounds as if you do not give the benefit of the doubt to a cop when an interaction occurs, much less the extension of good faith that your exercised locus of control in selecting law makers and law enforcers is worth anything at all.

I'm speaking to the point where that individual still had it within THEIR control, without a shadow of doubt, to have an outcome consisting of life....where should that individual reasonably have understood to choose different actions?

Sorry I pointed out a fact that's not consistent with the left's narrative. Also sorry I have a hard time defending a man driving a vehicle while on pcp. Call me old-fashioned.

Only slightly more ridiculous than what ever hypothetical ends justifies the means bullshit you were getting at.
Like I said above - and you apparently missed - if she was negligent then throw her in jail.

Benefit of the doubt? I never called for the cop a murderer or a racist. But, it is unacceptable for unarmed people to be gun downed by police. Drug use is not an excuse.

I couldn't figure out what the rest of this meant.

Even if her negligence "prevented something more tragic from happening?"
He could have got into his car and driven down the road and killed someone, he could have turned on the officers and killed one or more. The guy was on pcp, who knows what he could have done.

I doubt it. PCP isn't known for causing sexual arousal. Being a potent dissociative, it does the opposite. He probably had exams to study for anyhow.

sounds like pilt has much higher expectations for white cops than he does for black males. Pretty racist.

Liberals don't think black people can do anything by themselves. They need different tests, different entrance requirements, they don't think black people are physically able or smart enough to get their own id's to vote. They need their own clubs, and now their own dorms, safe spaces, the list goes on. How on earth would a liberal think a black male could keep the temptation of pcp from just being too strong.

The rest of us think black people are perfectly capable of doing anything that anybody else can do. I tend to follow Martin Luther King jr's lead on the subject. They tend to follow the Margaret Sanger thought process.

I'm in the camp that believes it is possible for both parties to be guilty of bad judgement which ends in a tragedy.

Granted Mr. Crutcher and his family got the worst end of the tragedy but the police officer and her family have not been spared of pain and misery.

From the video I didn't see where deadly force was needed, but I also don't know all the facts so I will try my best to keep an open mind about guilt or innocence.

You are the one bringing race into this.
