Excellent article. The comments are great too. Loved this one:
"The model for collectivism (socialism, fascism, communism) is a honey bee hive. All worker bees are slaves who must sacrifice their lives for the "common good" of their hive. The focus is on the group, the collective, not on the individual. Worker bees do not have individual rights, only duties to their hive. If you are an advocate of any form or variation of collectivism, then you are an advocate of slavery which is enforced by brutal physical force. There is no individual choice! There is no freedom!
Democracy is the tyranny of the majority, or mob rule. The United States was created as Republic (see pledge allegiance to the flag) where the rights of the minority are protected. No one's rights can be violated. Of course, this requires that you know what rights are, and are not. Most Americans do not! If you believe that medical care is a right, for example, then who are you going to "force" to provide that care. What about "his" rights? That is why socialized medicine results in a shortage of doctors who refuse to be slaves.
A nation's prosperity is proportional its freedom. All dictatorships are poor. The most prosperous countries are semi-free (there are no fully free countries). Freedom is the reason the U.S. quickly became the richest country on earth. The right to private property (the right to own what you produce) is the reason why the U.S. was a beacon for immigrants from all over the world who came here (and assimilated into a culture of freedom) to better their lives. Live and let live!"
