Sturgill/Childers coming to Tulsa

Please not Cain's. Anywhere else.

I've listened to his last album and not sure what I think...

He just did Rogan again a few weeks ago with his band. He is probably the coolest musician out there. Such a thoughtful dude.

Saw him at Cain’s in 2015. The show was outstanding.

Saw him last October at the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia, MO and it was pretty mediocre, at best, he was so drunk he was slurring all the lyrics.

I saw him at Cain's and the thackerville casino with Jason Isbell. Those two guys burned the place down. The latter was one of the best concerts I've been to.

I'm not sure he's gonna last real long with all his heavy drug use but the guy is so talented it's amazing.

We were at both those shows as well. So was @mseabolt. The guy who used to post on the board as @MrBurns stayed at the hotel at the winstar and actually ran into Isbell in the elevator. Got a real nice pic out of the deal.

My guess is they might do the BOK, In a setup just like Isbell has been using the last couple shows there.

Isbell has some great songs, too.

Yeah, I saw some comments from people who somehow found out the venues in a few other cities and several were arenas. If it is at the BOK I'll pass.

if they do it like they did the last two Isbell shows it’s seated floor and lower level only. We were on the floor first time and the next time we sat in the first section, 2nd row about 45 degree angle. Great seats and excellent sound.

AA is where the Mavericks play. Been to a couple of events there. If you only choose one I’d do bok

Any of you watched the anime video on Netflix that accompanies the new album? It's called Sturgill Simpson Presents Sound & Fury. Wow. Sturgill likes his psychedelics.

quote from my 2016 critique of in bloom when introduced to sturgill via a thread on this board

been decades but it takes one to know one

“Ok huge nirvana fan back in the day and old habits die hard so I took the bait

Maybe it's just me but I tried to reconcile In bloom nirvana style, feeling like I want to break shit to this trippy ass ate a bag of shrooms instrumental underneath a twangy singing how it is cash/haggard outcross of a voice and left aghast at the awesomeness.

Very well done and coming to okc 5/11
Yippee!”

I really dislike his music and that cover especially but he is a super thoughtful person. His story is unique. I think he’s the most interesting musician I’ve ever heard interviewed. He does it his way and he’s awesome. Having said that this new record is a rock & roll record and I really dig it. I bet country people absolutely hate it.
