Your problem isn't with military members, it's with the corrupt governments that start the wars, ours being one of the worst. Instead of making comments about the troops, just say what you really mean, our government is corrupt and manipulates the people to support their corruption.

And just to be clear, it's not just Democrats. Republicans are as, if not more guilty as Democrats. The entire government is corrupt.
The intended point was to bitch about people mis-crediting the motives behind why young men sign up to join the military, and nothing more.
Being conscripted would just suck. I can understand how that would influence a person’s world view.

Was conscription a 4 year gig? My dad was drafted during the Korean conflict and it seemed like he only served 2 years.
Two year obligation. Some of us were so young and stupid we enlisted voluntarily. My father was an Air Force officer in the war and he wanted me to follow in his footsteps, so I joined the Air Force.
I joined the USAF outta High School in hopes of making some contribution to protect our freedom. I was an army brat and didn't want to wait around for when or if the draft. Younger brother married and knocked up his spouse as quick as he could to avoid the draft.

Younger, younger brother joined the USAf as I did. He was medically discharged in basic training.
Sadly millions of people in this country do not have the same love of country you have. They are what has the country done for me kind of people, better known as Democrats.

We have people from all over the world risking life and limb, selling their children into sexual slavery and selling themselves into indentured servitude to the cartels for passage just to have the opportunity to live in the US, yet tens of millions of our own citizens think because they were born here they are owed something. Hell give me those selling themselves for the opportunity over those in this country with their hand out.
I visited Ireland from where my mother had strong roots. It was okay. I'll take the US. I just can't build any interest in visiting the Congo from where my father had roots. I lived in Germany for 3 years where my father had roots. It was barely okay. I salute the Germans for knowing how to measure. A pound of spuds weighs 500 grams. A pound of spuds weighs 454 grams in the US. My current patio temp is 94F. In Hanau, Germany my patio temp would be 38C.

Every President who serves in that position knows the value of those who serve in our armed services. Our Presidents understand the sacrifices the men and women of our armed services make and why they should be honored, even if a miserable naysayer like @Ponca Dan doesn't.
