You should read the link. It explains how China was content to rely on American computer chips to develop AI, but the US, in a quest to control the market, wouldn’t sell to them. So some enterprising Chinese entrepreneurs figured out how to exceed America's best AI for pennies on the dollar. It very well could lead to the demise of the $500 billion investment DJT was hyping this week. It has nothing to do with “loving China” and everything to do with how competition brings great advances for humanity. Unless the authority controls the whole world it can’t prevent progress.
China is a Communist Government, uses slave labor, thats how they keep costs down and also uses cheap made materials that are hazardous to the environment and people's health yet all that seems to get lost on you and your opinion on trade with them. China is also guilty of real not fake Genocide yet that doesn't bother you either. Strange.
It amazes me that so many liberals think that China is your friend, they aren't.
I's your opinion the US should share all of it's technology with China, which China can then in turn use that technology to develop weapons and systems they can use against thee US? WTF
The US wouldn’t share its technology so new and vastly improved technology was developed which achieved better results at 1/30th the price. And now that new technology is being handed out
for free to anyone who wants to use it and develop it even further.

They do not ascribe to the idea that advances in technology should reinforce police-state surveillance or other repressive forms of social control.(as they do in the West) Their vision of the future is altogether different, but invariably optimistic.

You miss the point. It’s not about China. It’s about authoritarian trade policies whose unintended consequences can become very consequential. If you are as terrified of China as you appear to be you might want to consider stopping your support of authoritarian trade policies being practiced by our government.

While you are running around screaming the sky is falling I see this as a good thing. Currently these arrogant, know it all AI companies are getting their ass handed to them in the stock market. That in turn will force these companies to reevaluate and innovate. We are just getting started with AI, better to have our ass handed to us now than ten years down the road. I know it's hard for you but think in the long term not just what's happening today.
