I know it is not surprising that we are ranked lower than TCU and Baylor. What does surprise me is how no one (other than OSU fans) think OSU is really anything other than a lucky version of WVU. TCU is favored to win Saturday's game by about 4 points, yet everyone thinks there is such a huge disparity between the 2 teams. OSU performed better than TCU against Tech, yet everyone thinks there is such a huge disparity between OSU and TCU.
We have all seen that OSU is ranked 14th, and have heard the talking heads anoint us as a paper tiger who will be exposed over the next 4 weeks. I was listening to local (Dallas) ESPN radio guys at lunch today. They were talking about the rankings and saying that an undefeated Big 12 team would surely get into the CFP. They talked about Baylor and TCU, but didn't even mention OSU. No discussion of what would happen if OSU managed to run the table. While talking about TCU and Baylor, they even mentioned how they would have key victories over the other one and over OU and that would really help their resume. No mention of OSU.
I know that this kind of thing shouldn't bother me, and their opinions mean nothing. But, I am just really surprised that none of these people are even considering OSU as having a chance to win their remaining 4 games. The offense has really showed up in the last 2 games, and the defense has been well above average overall.
I know I have orange colored glasses on, but I do believe that we have a legitimate chance to beat TCU on Saturday, especially with the game being played in Stillwater. If we do manage to come away with the W on Saturday, it is going to be really interesting to see how these guys handle it. I guess it will depend a lot on how we play while getting the W. The rhetoric will either be, "TCU isn't as good as we all thought, and we should have known that after their game against Tech". Or "Its time to start taking this OSU team seriously".
