The attacks they are making on Trump and his administration are taking us down a slippery slope. It makes the country look weak and is setting a precedent for a bashing of government that ultimately undermines all authority.

Once the government loses authority to rule, you take a huge step towards anarchy. I know they hate Trump, and I know that Trump leaves massive doors open to be criticized, but they (libs in the media and entertainment industry) are taking us to a place from which we will never return.

If they treated the right and left the same, I would have no problem with it. I guess I really don't have a problem with it now, I just choose not to watch it.

Am 56 and have never watched a full SNL. Many friends find them funny and they probably were back in the day but the political lampooning is intellectually dishonest and easy. Takes super creative talent to come up with some of the old stuff...

Never been to a concert either but decided to break the streak and go see Kansas, here in Tulsa 3/25.

Wow....I don't think I've seen a more pro-authoritarian view of government made here.

The only authority to "rule" the government has is what we the people give them.

"Bashing the government"....and the freedom to do so.....makes us strong. When did we start caring about what things "look like" to others.

Everyone should be allowed to express themselves. If the entertainment industry wants to bash Trump and conservatives they can do it. I just never have understood why they feel compelled to piss off half or more of their customer base. Especially since for the most part they don't change the outcome of elections in any meaningful way.

Their self importance is a big turnoff for me. I'm not even going to watch the Grammy's because I know it will be over the top with the hate.

If they were equally critical they'd not be hypocrites. I contend what they are doing is hurting their cause as opposed to helping it. But, I'll just chose to not watch or support them.

Other than anecdotal reports of those who claim not to watch, is there any data that supports the "hypocrisy" charge? Would seem easy enough to measure - avg minutes characterizing Dems v Repubes over time. You could then normalize for who holds what positions. Somebody get on that!

You are trying to tell me, with a smug face, that snl isn't historically slanted to the left?

I think SNL wants to be funny more than anything else. They frequently come up short. They are enjoying more success now than recent years.

Did not realize you could see my face - strong hacker foo you got there pip the mighty squeak.

Your avatar is definitely pretty smug and smarmy.

Just saying....

I fear I have done some irreparable harm to Homers image with it... must change it. This any better?

Obama is difficult to make fun of unlike Trump, the Bushes and Clinton. He's a boring black guy with pretty big ears. Caricature-wise there's not a lot there. Trump is the best thing to happen to SNL in a long time.

So, whereTF''s your credit card info so the "committee" can process your "paid agitator app."? :D

Authority should be mocked.

What offends me is all these brave satirists lost their balls for 8 years and suddenly found them in abundance.

It's to be expected. I'm a teacher of U.S. History and a coach. I've been called the resident Nazi of the school because I have the audacity to enforce outlandish school rules such as wearing IDs and showing up to class on time (gasp!) while other teachers disregard the them and fail to see the value of teaching right from wrong, all to make their job less stressful.

I see our failing education system bend over backwards to avoid losing federal funding while allowing discipline to go out the window. I see it get worse and worse on a day-to-day, week-to-week, and year-to-year basis.

I've said it for years, we are like the Romans, and soon, like the Romans, we will face our demise.

Yikes.....you're a history teacher (but more a coach, I'd bet) too.

We aren't "like the Romans".

No Caesars here....yet.

The Republic will survive.

I used to watch SNL a lot as a kid and through teenage to my 20's... but the last 4-6 years, they have not been funny. last year we finally just stopped recording SNL because we found our selves never watching it. I don't know if we're just not liking the cast, or if the writing has just gotten that bad (or both), but it used to have some really good skits in there.

I actually was SS department head for a three-year stint and the lead US History teacher for a number of years before getting back into coaching this year. People are using U.S. History power points I've created all over Texas and in at least three different states. My point, I take my teaching very seriously. I keep my politics aside in the classroom, although at times it is very difficult. I have to play devil's advocate quite a bit.

FWIW, SNL made fun of Fauxcahontas Warren and social issue focused commercials that make no sense for selling cheetos.
