I am not a Democrat. Nor am I liberal. My views haven’t changed in decades. That’s the irony. I’m what you would call a Reagan-era Country Club Republican. You know, what used to be considered an adult in the room where local governance, reasonable regulation with an emphasis on free markets, staying the hell out of people’s personal lives, and understanding the importance of foreign alliances used to matter. I am a free thinker and can call a spade a spade: people need to recognize that two-plus decades of Tea Party/now Trumpist policies have destroyed the State of Oklahoma. Meanwhile, the idiots keep lapping it up, under the phony auspices of Faith, Family, and Freedom. By all means, keep on keepin’ on. Maybe your thoughts and prayers will one day raise someone from the dead or make a discernible difference in people’s lives.
You are an angry hateful godless person so that’s why people think you are a liberal. Again, Oklahomans elects religious zealots because that’s who runs and anyone with a d in front of their name is associated with the coastal insane asylums. No successful conservative person wants anything to do with government, so we get the extremes.

I agree about no viable opposition party but to lump Oklahoma Democrats with those on either coast is laughable. They are conservative people who are more progressive on social issues than most Republicans.
The checkmate for Republicans in Oklahoma is the effective vilification of Democrats from evangelical pulpits. That stopped all political discourse and actual policy debate in reality and has reduced a lot of donations for Democratic campaigns who don’t wish to fight conservative churches and white Christian nationalism. This co-mingling of church and state by Republicans has shown why the founders of our country warned against it as it has been wildly successful in stopping any debate or real choice in politics.
If you’re for women to be free and have government out of their personal life you’re considered pro-abortion by evangelicals which is BS both as a matter of policy and personal belief and responsibility. Most progressives I know are personally pro-life but just as adamant that government has no place in telling an American female what to do with their body. It’s a question of personal freedom for progressives more so than pro-life. The counter to pro-life is to tell what it really is which is pro-birth since every policy to assist the child and its family for success in life is routinely ignored by Republicans and fought politically and defunded if it exists.
Very few Oklahomans agree with the culture war BS a lot of liberals obsess about though they are desirous of freedom for all Americans regardless of race, sex, and who they love. So in reality, freedom is desired for all as promised in our constitution. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness should be for all Americans not just some that look like those in power.
I hope Trump is successful because he’s President for all of us. But if he makes mistakes and causes pain for Americans he should be called out for it like any other politician and his policies should die at the ballot box like elections should produce. That’s if conjecture about him filling the government with sycophants that will enable him to become a dictator doesn’t come to fruition.
That possibility is raised as he keeps challenging every check and balance, often ignores law and the constitution until judges bat him back with rulings. So far he’s complied but if and when all sycophants are in place will he continue to do so? All lovers of democracy better hope so or we will be no different than Russia, China, or North Korea.
