Does Trump? lol I have no idea. I don’t have any insight to his preference.
The last debate did run smoother than constant interruptions and talking over one another, that’s my opinion
His campaign does. I know what Trump is "claiming" publicly but his campaign is saying something completely different.
Which begs the obvious question, who is in charge and running Trump's campaign??

Yes, muted mics are a mechanism that controls Trump and keeps him from hurting himself like he did in the first 2020 debate against Biden. Which is of course why his campaign wants them muted.

Oh I'm definitely looking forward to the prosecutor debating the convicted felon. While Trump is going in with lower expectations which could work in his favor, I'm still looking forward to it.
As for my debates, it will be interesting to see how both campaigns respond to this question after the first debate.

With that said, if I was Harris, I'd agree to the second debate being at Fox as long as Trump's campaign (key being the campaign) agreed to an MSNBC debate as the last debate.

I bring this up once again: The first question to Trump from CNN in the last debate was whether or not he would accept the election results if he lost. The same question should be put to Harris and the Dems to see what their response would be.
This upcoming debate is the first debate between Trump and Harris. With that said, the CNN debate moderators were fair during the debate between Trump and Biden. Even a few Trump supporters on here admitted as much at the time, if I'm remembering correctly.
But as to why should he, because if he wants Fox, then as Harris, I would want MSNBC. Trump doesn't get to control the Harris campaign lol. It's called making a deal.

It wasn't the first debate, it was the second. Biden won the first debate. As for the second, Biden didn't back out, the University of Michigan withdrew from hosting the debate over public health concerns. Trump also tested positive for COVID. Therefore, the Commission on Presidential Debates planned a virtue debate. Biden agreed and it was Trump who refused to do thr debate. Biden then did a town hall hosted by ABC and Trump a town hall hosted by NBC, not MSNBC. The town halls were at the same time. More viewers watched the Biden town hall.

The ABC debate was scheduled. Trump tried to back out of it and run to Fox News for help. Doing so hurt him politically, so he finally, once again, agreed to the ABC debate.
Harris has never backed out of a scheduled debate like Trump has.

And Trump and his campaign may disagree, but his position is "I don't care" and his campaign staff know this is the only chance we may get to see Kamala in an unscripted situation. So he's letting them make the call.

I agree. It helps to contain and control Trump, to muzzle him. It keeps him from hurting himself with interruptions and immature comments. It helps him not make the same mistake he did in the first 2020 debate with Biden where Trump looked bad and lost the debate.
Trump has been offering up a lot of word salads lately. Rambling on and not making any sense. It will be interesting to see how the muted mics affect this on his part during the debate.
