Scuffle

Austin Schafer lost in overtime. He was ahead 4-2 in the third and gave up a takedown (counter to his shot)
In overtime his takedown was countered. He is wrestling aggressive, but just not able to finish.
He lost 6-4 in the first period of OT

Schafer lost 6-4 to chip ness. 197 looks to be a bit of a hole. He started well and then couldn't finish shots he should of and took a really bad shot that got himself over extended in OT. That being said I think he had the escape at the end of the third.

that had to be some of the worst scrambling by Austin S Ive seen. Had his legs many times and had no clue what to do with it other than roll around and give up a take down.

Looks like next round is scheduled for 5:45.

Four in consolations:
B Crutchmer WBF
Dolan won 5-3
Koo about up on mat 2
Schafer

Schafers match was very hard to watch. He had the lead and was in on a shot, just had to step over the legs, not sure what was going on. I thought at first he had been inspired by Boyd, but that intensity and fire diminished quickly.

Thats unfortunate for Lawson, he just returned form injury.

Schafer coming up on mat 2.

Schafer just lost 5-3.

He worked so hard and looked so determined to get the TD dragging Boykin back on the mat. Then he gives up a reversal straight to his back. Ever since he got Majored by Wellington in the finals of Reno last year he has looked uninspired.

Just got back from Chattanooga. We had a great time as always. More about how we wrestled in another post. Just thought I would cover some important awards in this post. The first annual Blackobe awards for the tournament.

Best wrestling singlet for the first day of the tournament goes to Army. Their wrestlers were resplendent in a gray camoflauge singlet with a Large A on the back. The Camo was subtle and the singlet made out of shiny substance that almost made the entire ensemble look holographic in nature. Very classy look for the boys in Olive green except in this case they were gray.

The best wrestling singlet the second day of the tournament goes to The citadel. It was a bright blue and yellow camoflauge affair. It the inaugural awards this year seem a bit militaristic in nature with Army and the Citadel We also considered a green frog singlet and also on the second day the OSU black singlets which were eye pleasing to all but Nolan Boyd who chose to wrestle the second day in the traditional orange-reason not known.

The overall award for the best singlet goes to The Citadel. Congratulations on this prestigious award and your trophy is in the mail.

The Bob Marley award this year goes to Dequean Smith of Iowa State with outstanding dreads. We do plan to expand our awards for next year and possibly have J Carl Guymon announce them at an Awards Ceremony.

Chattanooga is by far the best tournament we attend due to the atmosphere, the genteel nature of all of concession workers, the motel staffs and also great food. The award for the best restaurant this year goes to the "Big River" restaurant.
Every entrée on the menu is outstanding but this reviewer gives a big thumbs up to the Shrimp and lobster enchiladas which were scrumptious. An old and dear friend, Tammy Leen (wife of Mark and Mother of Jordan Leen) resides in Chattanooga and Jordan and Tammy and I shared a Carrot cake slice which fed all three of us and some was left over. It was biggest slice of cake I have e ver seen and was outstanding in taste. I would also recommend the Iron City Stout for those who like to imbibe in something alcoholic. Oh yeah, we also an excellent wrestling tournament.
