I think only 1 dual a year benefits rankings for OU/BiG12 at the end of the year..some kids will get beat twice no matter outcome..also means more to win it once a year.

As a fan would you rather see OK State vs Penn State, Ohio State, Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, etc...... or would you rather see the second match against Oklahoma?

They'd say the same thing about us in football.

John is wrong IMO. Why showcase your rival? Treat them as your ugly step sister. You guys don't owe OU any free marketing with Oklahoma kids. That's how I feel about Pitt.
I Agree, I don't think we should allow them in the Big 12 or ever wrestle them again (or Missouri). Every time we wrestle them it's a gift to a team that took the SEC money and ran. Screw then; I hope they get their a$$es handed to them over there.

The first wrestling match I attended was the season of 1960-61 and it was the Bedlam match in Gallagher. I was hooked on wrestling from then on so I do want to continue Bedlam. Not that we owe OU anything but it does give pub to wrestling and therefore it is beneficial to the sport as a whole.

Bedlam is always entertaining and competitive dual points wise. Always look forward to it regardless of location. Would like to see the home/away continue but I'm fine with one scrap per year as long as we are picking up another solid dual.

If we added a yearly series with any of those, sure, but I don't think we will. None of them need help with strength of schedule.

If anything, OU being good has a positive correlation with us being great. It would be good for us for them to improve.

I would love to see us have 1 home dual and 1 road dual against those B1G schools every year.

John is right, imo.

Those duals are great if uO is worth a darn. Sadly, they haven’t been in 20 years.
Same with Iowa and ISU. Sorry but all rivalries have to be some what close to be a rivalry or they are just another match. Honestly youngs and Iowa, and OU and ISU are better rivalries right now, well sorry but not sorry, outside looking in, ide rather see that.

Hearing murmurs of a possible trip to MSU open Nov 9th for a preseason tournament. Last year Michigan, MSU, Wisconsin, NW and OU were there. Definitely a step up from the Lindenwood or some other small tourney where the guys end up wrestling to many non D1 guys and each other. It'll be nice for these guys to have to make weight and hopefully get 3-4 D1 matches in before the first dual.

For each step forward, they take two steps back (losing Buchanan). Idk why they don’t care more about their historically great program

Over this weekend I saw two of our early opponents in action. Virginia Tech defeated UT/Chatanooga 37-6 and Iowa def.
Oregon State 30-7. VA Tech first five weights are solid with Ventresca at 125, Transfer McGonagle at 133, Latona up at 141, National champ Henson at 149 (Although he did not wrestle and Hippolito at 157 who looked extremely good. TJ Stewart is their 184 pounder and All American but he did not wrestle, Sonny Sasso at 197 got a quick fall after two takedowns and Mullins at 285 made quick work of the UT heavy-weight. Iowa was also very impressive winning 8 of 10 matchups. Renteria of Oregon State got one of their two wins over cruz of Iowa and their other win came at 157 when Stiles looked dominant over Rathjen with a 12-3 win. Ayala had a tech fall win at 133 for Iowa, Transfer Parco for Iowa won a hard fought 5-1 decision over Jacinto of Oregon State in a closer than the score indicated battle. Calliendo had a tech fall at 165 for Iowa and despite reports that Nelson Brands was going to 184 this year he westled Harmon and won 2-1 by virtue of RT at 174.
Gabe Arnold had a 20-5 tech win at 184. A great match at 197 between Buchanan and Munoz with Munoz ahead 4-2 after two periods but Buchanan took down in the 3rd and escaped and managed two takedowns to win. Kueter at Heavyweight had a close match with Mower of Oregon State until the end when he got a late takedown off of a good shot by Mower that would have tied the score.

Virginia Tech will be really tough now and in the next 5 years. Robie is building a solid roster and program. Their Sophmores and below plus recruits (with their Big Board rating) include:

125/133Aaron Seidel HS-Sr #7
133-Dillon Campbell Fr #49
141-Drew Gorman HS-Sr #25
149-Caleb Henson Jr w/RS available #7
149-Noah Ninninger HS-Sr NR in Flo’s rankings on their app which are almost 1 year old but should probably be #50 or so today
157-Rafael Hipilito RS-Fr #57
157-Mac Church RS-Fr #29
157-Claudio Torres HS-Sr #34
165-Jayden James HS-Jr #12
174-Gage Wright Fr #10
174-Collin Gaj-HS-Sr #32
184-TJ Stewart So #31
184-Ryan Burton-HS-Sr #22
197-Sonny Sasso-RS-Fr #26
285-Jimmy Mullin-RS-Fr #11

So in the last 4 classes (with the ‘26 class just starting), VT has signed 13 top 50 recruits. That is not counting Ninninger and Hipolito who will probably be better than many top 50 recruits.

Since I couldn't find a good printable PDF of the '24-'25 schedule I just typed one up in word doc. Was going to attach the file here, but it doesn't look like its giving me that option. I can insert a image but not attached files. Any help with this?
