If public education does as well teaching history as they have reading, writing and arithmetic you have nothing to worry about, the kids will suck at that to.Nah…
Readin’ writin’ ‘rithmetic…
I heard it here…it’s solid…
The last thing public education seems to be worried about these days. Just ask shit britches. Dang shame. If public education does as well teaching history as they have reading, writing and arithmetic you have nothing to worry about, the kids will suck at that to.
Not all of the Founding Fathers were “Christians” in today’s understanding of the term. Many of them considered themselves to be Deists who believed in a “clockwork universe.” Nevertheless many of them *were* committed Christians and their Biblical (ethical) understanding was central to their joining in the Revolution, which would not have succeeded without them. Knowing that it is not unreasonable to teach those Biblical principles as just as important to the creation of the new nation as the writings of John Locke and especially Thomas Paine who is arguably the most important intellectual voice of the time and he was an atheist. It is a denial of historical truth to forbid teaching the importance of the Bible to the creation of our country.![]()

To be clear: the educator in the link spoke solely about that historical truth and made no mention of an effort to ram Christianity down anyone's throat. I will rise up in condemnation with you, @ClintonDavidScott, if that becomes the case. But I think you are jumping the gun at this point. You seem to be a little hair-triggered looking for something to be mad about. Take a deep breath and let’s see how this plays out.

I went back and watched the video link again. He stressed the *historical* importance of the Bible to our country’s creation. He said *nothing* about teaching the Bible in classrooms in an effort to endorse a religion. You are being overly sensitive about this. Chill!![]()

Thanks, JimmyBob, for linking the entire segment. The entire time the only thing being stressed is the historical importance of Biblical principles among the people who founded our nation.
Joe wants to pat yer locks. While in that warm soapy shower of course. 😉A much greater influence on the constitution was John Locke and his treatise on government as well as Thomas Hobbs and his writings in Leviathan. Then add in the Magna Carta.
By the way, I think the Bible was a very minor influence in the constitution. The foundational principle is 'the consent of the governed' and that's not a biblical principle.
Never thought I would see Clinton liking a link to Masters.![]()

They're trying to rewrite it.Why are the libs even questioning the Constitution's point on this topic? Don't they all believe its just an old document written by a bunch of rich, white, slave-owners that no longer represent this country? Or is the Constitution back in vogue for libs this week?
