Rasmussen has Mr. President at 51% approval today. Obama was at 45% at this point.

First, the qualifier: Take all polls with a huge grain of salt. The margin of error is based upon sampling sizes and do not account for the accuracy of the interviewed.

That said, this poll shows a real interesting dynamic. Consistently 78% of respondents strongly approve or disapprove of the president at any point in their survey. The spread changes, but the total is consistently at that 78% mark. That would indicate that 22% of the population surveyed fall into the 'moderates' category, as I suspect most Rs and Ds fall solidly in one or the other of the 'strongly' categories. Based on that rationality, to achieve the 51% that Rasmussen is giving Trump, moderates approve of Trump by nearly 2 to 1 margin.
