If he were still alive today maybe more people would listen to reason.

It is so ironic you posted that! I was just considering posting a question whether anybody thinks DJT has started slipping into Joe Biden mental territory. He has always had delusions of personal grandeur, but his narcissism seems to be reaching sky high levels. Is there anyone or any place on this planet he hasn’t found a grudge against or reason to bully, a reason to pick a fight? I remember during his first administration someone on this board insisted the rest of the world needs us far more than we need it. At the time I thought it had to be the dumbest thing I’d ever heard someone say. But now it seems they were just channeling the delusions of our president. I don’t know where this lunatic is going to lead us, but I’m certain it will not end well for anybody.

If he does nothing the US will look like Gaza. Already does in most Blue Cities.
And I guess it takes a Narcissist to know one.

Be honest. Can you think of any place on earth he has talked about that he didn’t claim he has a grievance against? We are the richest nation in the history of mankind yet he is convinced - and has convinced you - that everybody takes advantage of our good nature, that we are victims. We have injected our military across the globe, interfering in virtually every other nation and then are gobsmacked when they don’t appreciate all we do for them. Does that seem sane to you?

Last I checked there is one Ford dealer in South Korea. 1500 Kia and Hyundia dealers in the US. Avg. US IQ is 97.4. Avg. South Korea IQ is 103.

If the world's first decimal/metric currency was not the world's reserve, we would be Greece.

Trump was accepted and enrolled at the very prestigious Wharton School of Business. Most of our board members see Trump as sane.

Trump didn't do any of that. He didn't have to convince me of anything I have eyes. Do you think Mexico cares about our Southern Border or who or what crosses it?
You are naive if you think we are not taken advantage of. Look at what our own Politicians have been doing with taxpayer money.
I have lived long enough and have dealt with enough people over the yrs and have learned the hard way. Being nice gets you nowhere, a lot of people see it as a weakness and will use it against you. I guess its human nature for them to do that but not everyone thinks that way or acts that way but a lot of them do.
A counrty run by people can and will act in the same way.

You don't say "why" South Korea has only one Ford dealership, but for the sake of argument let's assume it's because SK has such high tariffs on Ford products it prices Ford out of the SK market. Since you are a person of high IQ, please answer this for me: is it not better that Americans (with low tariffs) have access to a greater lineup of products, ability to purchase Kia and Hyundia automobiles *in addition to Ford* than South Korans who have allowed their government to decrease their options because of high tariffs? It leads me to wonder who really has the higher IQ.

Why should the South Korea economy or any other foreign economy get access to our markets if we don't have the same access to theirs? We have the largest consumer market in the world.
Think of it from a business standpoint. Walmart and Amazon are extremely large retailers here in the States as such they demand and receive substantial benefits from those seeking the privilege of having their products displayed on their platforms. Why shouldn't the US do the same?

The reason the US should not do the same is because it limits our choices as consumers. I'll keep repeating it until it sinks in: what Trump is saying (without saying it because he knows people would revolt) is "by God if SK is going to harm their consumers we're going to harm ours to get even!" That doesn't strike me as something a society with a high IQ would accept.

That's your story and you will stick to it but that in no way means it is correct. I do enjoy how you only look at one side of the equation while you ignore the damage or probably a better terms is the disadvantage American business and the labor market are faced with.
Tariffs do not limit American consumer choices in any way. Foreign countries are free to export as many of their products as they wish to the US.
Believe it or not I do agree there was a time for foreign countries to place tariffs on our goods. After WWII many of these countries were in shambles and needed to rebuild their infrastructure, economies and their societies. As the major super power that emerged after WWII we had that responsibility but that time has long passed. We are 37 trillion dollars in debt and can no longer afford foreign countries to continue to be welfare recipients.

Our 37 trillion dollar debt is not because we got screwed by tariffs. Your notion that tariffs do not limit consumer choices is myopic. Prices are the limiting factor with every consumer's choice. Tariffs cause prices to go up, not only on imported products, but also those that are domestically created. (Why else do you think DJT followed his car tariff with threats to places like Ford they’d better not raise prices?) Higher prices *by necessity* cut out portions of the market share. Tariffs are designed to “protect” the jobs of a few thousand workers in the affected industry while raising prices on hundreds of millions of consumers. And then the protectionist claims he’s doing it for our own good. It is uncanny how many people so easily buy into the con.

My notion tariffs do not limit consumer choices is myopic? LMAO. The lack of imagination is on your part. We are in a global economy now and your same old approach of the US getting screwed isn't going to work anymore.

The 1996 Plymouth Neon was charged a 30 day dock fee upon delivery to Japan adding to it's MSRP. Inspection fee were added to ALL Neons at delivery to Japanese docks. The US had no such fees added to Toyota Corrolas back in the day. Neons became a bit pricey for Japanese consumers.

Congress did make laws making it attractive for Japanese auto makers to assemble vehicles in the US.

Let's see if you can guess who they are now. Which party filed over 40-lawsuits against Trump just because he deemed it worthy to run for president, again? Who initiated lawfare in the presidential race? Tell us punta.
