Question for those with more strategery than me...

Not really interested in a contest with JD even though he enjoys calling me out lately. It's all fun. However - here are a few clsims to watch if executive orders and job creation aren't convincing Him.

Tighten voter laws.
Reduce inner city crime / urban renewal
New healthcare that works.

If it seems like I've been calling you out....it's probably because you are one of the closest in attitude to me about Trump of all on this board. one of the few that hasn't struck me as a 100% bought in cheerleader or a complete anti guy. Just trying to keep you honest and not becoming a complete cheerleader.

Baby steps to convincing everyone that my worldview is the best. :D

while all this is going on with one wheel

trump moved the keystone pipeline forward with the stroke of a pen

that stuff that troubles my friend you is swamp fodder. little tidbits for some dumbass congressman from tucumcarri to get facetime while important stuff like pipelines is getting done

The pipeline stroke of a pen could have been done without all the other dumbassery.

That's what I would have preferred personally.

Just saying.....

I am convinced 100% the constant tweets and feuds in an inexorable part of his psychology - it's not really even a voluntary action on his part. I've represented people with that psychology and.... whew. They're the "problem clients" that the OBA General COunsel says to watch out for.

That's one lawyer subplot to all this -- he has stiffed multiple sets of his own lawyers that he previously hired to stiff other people. But there's still always a lawyer that will take on his next feud. That alone should be a CLE topic.

I get that man - and it's nothing personal at all. In fact if I remember correctly, I think I asked you to do exactly that!

I actually agree. And the crux of my point is that there's something in that psychology that instinctively works most of the time. I think Bannon is a guy that saw how to imbed more strategy in what was already happening there.

i agree 100%

yet how long have all the protests gone on?
how many man hours and how much money has gone into managing all of that chicanery
when this project could have already been completed?

contemporary media has become a corporate dog that can lick their own balls so trump has to keep them busy so he can get things done that need doing

Great analogy!

The protests and talking heads will be going on for 4 (8) years. I think the dumbassery gives them something stupid to talk about while the country moves on. Pretty simple.

You keep saying things like that....and using examples of things he's done that he absolutely didn't need to keep the media busy to do.

i reckon because we don't live in a utopian vacuum where a sensible and forthright man can go to washington speak softly and carry a big stick.

while trumps methods disturb our sensibilities

the swamp has whored pragmatic sensibility into what it has become and trump seems intent on draining it

You may be right in your first sentence.

Don't know about the second. I wouldn't say it disturbs me.

As for your third...Trump doesn't seem too intent on draining the swamp to me. Seems more intent on installing his own alligators and snapping turtles than draining it to me. That's probably forever been the nature of politics in America from the beginning though.....certainly Civil War and post Civil War politics.

WhenI was in private practice, I had a hard and fast rule of never taking a client who's first communication to me was "my prior lawyer screwed up/screwed me/etc."

we'll see

i shouldn't have spoken for you

this is the key...
they are trumps reptiles

maybe they and trumps machine morph into an awful demagoguery that's the future

for now hildebeast and both parties have cleared the pea trap and congress is circling the drain

Not saying this is intended...

But, by stoking the crazies with texts about meaningless things (crowd size), he teases out a cost from them...in hours, money, etc, at no cost to himself (not yet, at least). The crazies aren't going to be persuaded to vote for him/support him next cycle.

Similarly, he allows agenda driven corporate media to further expose their agenda. He creates opportunity for himself in them showing how they intend to cover news versus non-news (agenda politics). He creates leverage by adding context, to run against, to deflect against, to reward or punish (with access) etc....

All while he dilutes corporate media's hold on "real" news and adds accountability, both by adding to those who are granted access, namely, alternative media.

All this to say, to drain the swamp, you have to bust up the dam and other structures that allow the swamp to exist.

In my mind, the media is in the top tier of power structures which perpetuate the swamp, if not being at the very top of that list...1a.

Jd has been all over you lately. You must have done something.

the author glenn reynolds must have been reading this board

i found his closing remarks most interesting and inspiring.

"If we had a better press, we’d be much better off as a nation, and Trump’s strategy of capitalizing on the press’s flaws is good for Trump, but will probably make that problem worse, if such a thing is possible. But the truth is, we don’t have a better press. And as long as the press is mindlessly partisan and bereft of self-discipline, capitalizing on that is just good politics."

he uses the word capitalizing and who but trump is the master capitalist

we have a generation of mooks in the press they need to drain with the swamp

Good article.

As long as the media is predictable, they can be "used." A more impartial media would be less predictable, but that requires they detach from the Democratic mothership.
