Let’s say Joe Biden opts out of the 2024 race in the next couple of months, and Kamala Harris announces she’s next in line a intends to run. Everybody knows Ms. Harris is a blithering idiot and would stand no chance. But she checks all the appropriate Democrat boxes so it might be hard to turn her down. Now let’s consider Joy Reid, one of the most racist Americans on the planet. Would she be torn on what to do? Would she stab another black woman in the back in a last ditch effort to save the election for her party? Or would she tell the party to suck it up and stay with her racial and gender preferred candidate? I would bet she’d offer to do anything for Michelle Obama if she’d run.

If one of outliers (Kennedy or that moron professor Cornel West) running as a D gets in the race, then it won't matter who they run the R will win.

I agree with almost everything you say here. I will add if the race is between Kennedy and Trump the chances are very good that Trump would win. There is no way the establishment Democrats would support Kennedy, his character is unimpeachable, he won't be bought or intimidated. Plus I think they know they handled Trump on the important things the first time around and it would be easier for them to control Trump after a fashion than Kennedy. Lastly I disagree with you that Cornel West is a moron. He is a highly intelligent, very articulate promoter of "social justice," most of which I disagree with, but he is not a rapacious power-seeking madman like most politicians, he is a man dedicated doing everything is his power to bring all people together in peace. It has nothing to do with Jr. not being "allowed" the nomination. It has everything to do with Jr. not winning the nomination because most Democrats aren't going to vote for him. Jr. isn't where most Democratic voters are on some very important issues. Therefore, most Democrats aren't going to support him. Simple as that.
It is the same principle at work for say, Liz Cheney, if she was running for the Republican nomination. It isn't that she wouldn't be allowed the nomination, it is that most Republicans wouldn't vote for her.

Interesting. I was watching Monday Mourning on the podcast Useful Idiots today with Katy Halper and another woman whose name I don’t remember (Aaron Mate was not there today). At any rate Katy and the woman are true progressives like me (they would give the Trump fanatics heart palpitations) and they had a segment on Bernie Sanders and how disappointed they are at what he has become. They showed clips of what Bernie said “then” and what he says “now,” and they were mourning that he has become nothing but a mouthpiece for Joe Biden, and how what he says “now” is the opposite of what he said “then.” They explicitly said they don’t want to call him a sellout to the progressive cause but they were bitterly disappointed that he has abandoned his old progressive rhetoric. It gave me an “Aha!” moment! Now I understand why you say nothing unless it comes from the establishment playbook while convincing yourself that you’re a progressive like Bernie. Since it’s the rhetoric from Bernie you think it’s progressive. We true progressives know that’s no longer the case.

I think mainly they were disappointed that Bernie, an independent and a declared socialist threw a true progressive (like me), Cornel West, under the bus for the Democrat Party establishment (people like you).
