Aimed at progressives & libs...in the event that they have curiosity regarding the rise of Peterson, the "intellectual dark" web, the modern free speech movement, etc....

I wish I'd have saved some tweets I saw about that guy the other day. He's a charlattan, has an audience of gullible people engaged in confirmation bias and is flat wrong about some of the stuff he pushes.

all of which is comforting bullshit you heard or read from another leftist. guaranteed - you haven’t concluded this through investing the time to listen to him and critically analyze his points.

Would like to understand where this belief in/fear of a "SJW Orthodoxy" comes from. My opposition/distaste for Peterson largely comes from his (as you put it) "carrying this strawman around on his hip". I see this as entirely about sustaining his very lucrative grasp on a disaffected segment of society. What say you?

You've got about 25 hours of psychological base knowledge to establish before possessing a framework by which to think about the questions or assertions you pose.

And probably need an overhaul in perception and/or character. Your feelers detect sinister intent without establishing a base level familiarity.

That's nothing but indulging ignorance, which of all the lefties in the forum, I believed you to be least likely to do. Not a desirable trait in a neighbor.

When you’re rattled, you spit out the dictionary lol. Do better, a lot better.

This is the beauty of Peterson: you can't criticize him unless you have 25 hours of psychological base knowledge. You can't discuss his ideas, because A) that's not what he meant and B) No one can distill anything he says to anything shorter than a 25 minute youtube monologue.

“Rejection of the unknown is tantamount to “identification with the devil,” the mythological counterpart and eternal adversary of the world-creating exploratory hero. Such rejection and identification is a consequence of Luciferian pride, which states: all that I know is all that is necessary to know. This pride is totalitarian assumption of omniscience – is adoption of “God’s place” by “reason” – is something that inevitably generates a state of personal and social being indistinguishable from hell. This hell develops because creative exploration – impossible, without (humble) acknowledgment of the unknown – constitutes the process that constructs and maintains the protective adaptive structure that gives life much of its acceptable meaning”
He actually is the perfect avatar for our king of word salads @CBradSmith

CScott liked your post. So, you at least have that going for you.

I say that you arrived at a conclusion to support your cognitive dissonance and nothing more.

Your position requires ignoring how he became known in the first place and then ignoring the fact that his gift for breaking down complex situations into things that are easy to understand, and championing personal responsibility can make people better versions of themselves.

Your opposition/distaste for him does not come from critical thinking - because you've addressed nothing of actual substance - just more postmodernist mythology re: Peterson "sustaining his very lucrative grasp on a disaffected segment of society." What you did there in that statement is plain to see and easy to understand.

“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network (only the disaffected are fans of Peterson) and isolate the target from sympathy (Peterson is a money grabbing charlatan) .

Sure, it's more elegant an nuanced than potato's "derp.... Candace Owens is an idiot, derp derp." but that's to be expected.

At least you don't stink of fear when you talk about him like @syskatine does.

Postmodernism and nothing else but blah blah blah lol.

Carry on

So, no discussion on points, rather a focus on form of the question?

Kinda Petersonesque. Credit for that at least.

25 hours? Thinking you've put 40 or more in. Time and effort you won't get back, but hopefully you get solid experience from this little experiment.

Another created position. You leftists, being of little or no substance, have this down to an art.

That and hair styling.

I have. My estimate was a threshold for having a common place from which to discuss the opinion you derived from having less exposure to the topic.
