@CBradSmith saying if you don’t like this move to a safe liberal metro area on the coast??

I'm saying there will be plenty of "adults" with handguns about, people who carry out of a protect- thy-neighbor sensibility.

If you desire a mature, civic-minded society that truly sees and feels communal responsibility, then those same adults will polish the ego-carriers. And I don't mean that they will cap them.

Children who don't see that they, let alone others, can handle such a basic responsibility, should (and will) keep away.

JFC, the idiot comparing Oklahoma to St Louis...seems the gang bangers in St Louis are carrying without permits anyway.

I hope we pass it, it because I think it matters that much, but love to see the left come unglued.

$100 says statewide our gun crime is and will remain lower than any of those basic bitches tweeting about it enjoy in their ten mile radius.

Texas has a similar bill pending. Hopefully Oklahoma's passage pushes Texas to pass ours. Constitutional carry should be everywhere.

I agree, but will have to work out the logistics of where/how to carry my Ruger .45 Mag (ala Dirty Harry). Might be a little cumbersome/obvious............

Yep. I’m more than happy with this being the kind of place people who don’t understand guns are afraid to move to.

No kidding Mega.....I worked a youth camp in Michigan during the summer of 1994. I was only one of three counselors (out of about 90) that was from south of The Mason-Dixon line. Before the summer was out had the vast majority believing Oklahoma was so backwards that we had to stop traffic for buffalo herds, still had Native Americans roaming free and on horseback. There were two of us that were conservative and the rest were anywhere from liberal to absolutely flaming liberal. Thought the more hickish they think OK is the greater chance is they will never move here.

If concealed carry with no training or license is good enough from criminals, it should be good enough for law abiding citizens.

Back in the 70's (I think it was the 70's) there was a quarterback from Oklahoma that played college ball for UCLA or USC (I forget which) who told his classmates that to get home he would fly into Denver and take the stagecoach from there to Oklahoma. And they believed him!

Is abolishing driver training next on the docket?

Forgive me for thinking maybe my community would be safer where law-abiding citizens receive some training in firearm safety than without it.

This strikes me as a move designed to make a point rather than one that actually makes society better.

Most law-abiding citizens who grew up around guns probably had more gun training safety at home than they could get in 1/2 day in classes.

My grandfather was a Constable who placed his gun and holster on the living room hutch when he came home. We would have rather played with a rattlesnake than go near his gun whenever we visited.

You apparently have more faith in the citizenry than I do. The willingness to carry a gun does not make you wise, mature, or cool under pressure. It means you have access to a gun.

That said, I have no idea if training courses can demonstrate a quantifiable benefit in safety, but common sense says they would.
