Why can’t The NY Times write an article the way a good journalist should? The article attempts to paint Trump as giving out pardons left and right and implies he does this a lot. The article should have mentioned that Obama did this more than any other President. In fact, Obama issued pardons and commutations more than the last 13 Presidents combined.
Pokeabear, was it disgusting and dangerous when Obama pardoned an armed bank robber? Or was it dangerous and disgusting when he pardoned someone charged with espionage? Or when he commuted the prison sentences of 330 people on his last day in office (he did this over 600 times in his last month in office?

One important thing that separates the US Military from many others around the world is that we expect and demand that our military members follow the laws of armed conflict, and when individuals operate outside those rules we hold them accountable and take responsibility. Pardoning war criminals totally undermines that entire philosophy.
My guess is we are only getting one side of this story from the press and the conservative banning Twittersphere.

It amazes me that some people can sit back thousands of miles away, sitting in the comfort of their easy chairs and criticize the actions of a soldier that that has to make decisions in a combat situation, from in some case a mile away.
The opening scene of the American Sniper gives just a small hint at the complexity of thier job. Is the person in their scope intent on harming American Troops or are they innocent people just trying to survive a war they want no part of? Put yourself in the situation, you are the one making that decision. Are you going to error on the side of protecting your fellow soldiers or are you willing to take the chance and sacrifice those soldiers to protect against being charged with a war crime. IMO that is a situation that not one of us in qualified to judge.

I didn’t just discover these men’s crimes today buddy. I did however learn of trumps plans to pardon them on Memorial Day, this morning. Okay went and did some internet research on this subject and found out that apparently the prosecution spied on the defense with spyware and that there is video evidence exonerating Chief Gallagher of what he was primarily accused of which was stabbing a prisoner to death. There are quite a few legitimate concerns about the actions of the military prosecutors. Not only in this case. Apparently there is a culture that they must win by any method necessary.
