The weekend was gonna start with standing up for white heritage (if that narrative is to be believed) and ends with psycho trying to kill innocent, unsuspecting protesters. Meanwhile another anti-government nut tries to blow up downtown OKC. Again.

If there was ever a 48 hour news cycle that exposed these right wing fools for what they truly are, this was it. The years of disinformation for nitwits, the constant right wing messaging...... makes one wonder when it's going to manifest in action. So this is what it's all about.

The GOP's shitty, hateful, messaging from the last 30 years paved the way for all this. Chickens aren't done coming back to roost, either.

Parse this out. Your first paragraphs and your last paragraph aren't self evident.

You are correct about one thing. This is the society we get when all your political activities go towards marginalizing your political opposition.

It's true of the GOP. It's true of the Dems. It's true around the globe. Hell, it's true here on the board. Civility doesn't exist when all you have to offer is shitting on someone else.

Divide and conquer. We continue to splinter as a society. 100% is attributable to political parties trying to isolate and control voting blocks.

Until we start holding politicians accountable instead of just accepting the criminal enterprises and just laughing it off as business as usual we're boned. It's amazing how accepting we are of these pricks skirting the rules.

Like NK, it's time to stop kicking the can down the road and start running a tight ship and watch these pricks like hawks and jettison the turds.

I can't. It's as plain as I can make it.

I can remember the Willie Horton ads -- race baiting and isolating and demonizing a race. If you hear enough statistics that black people are shiftless criminals, some white people eventually are going to act on it. Alpha and PD would probably both say that Dems have been isolating the black voting block to defeat evil white republicans. I would say in response that blacks weren't lynching whites and enacting laws to keep them from voting. The blacks voting race was a predictable necessity that will probably continue for a few more years in part because of last weekend. I mean, if I'm black and I see white people carrying swastikas and confederate flags and screaming that white people need to preserve the nation, my political analysis is over.

I think the country is sick of the racial stuff. I am. But perspective is everything. So now if anyone says, "Let's rethink affirmative action and how to get more results with less racial antagonism" it's viewed in the perspective of , "My god, what are they trying to do now?"

I'd like to think that society is sick of the partisan stuff. Politicians and party loyalists just haven't caught up yet or are in denial.

And yet, people still insist on voting for lesser evils. Lather, rinse, repeat. Every. F-ing. Cycle. Talk big between elections, then almost everybody votes the same way (party) that they do every year.

I will say, as much as I disagree with sys, the GOP is showing more direct human on human violence than their dem counterparts. Though, they should all be locked away.

The Dem's have less human on human violence because they quietly use media to flame the hate...and then sit back and rail against the evil GOP. I'm trying to figure out what has changed...in the 70's & 80's people looked at the KKK as kooks and for the most part and ignored them. Now, I guess the hate groups are useful for political gains. Guess I answered my own question.

Media has always pushed similar naratives. More accessibility to online and easier collaboration between groups and sub-groups is a much larger problem. The one-upping of each other is only going to get worse. I despise and distrust the media, but I cannot fully blame them for this type of crap.

Simple equation: (shitty people + internet access to even more shitty people) X (worsened partisan politics)^2 = what we are seeing today. Add in the variable of bs misguided nationalism, and it gets uglier. Also add in a petulent child POTUS, and that tends to make hate groups that align themselves (falsely) with the president being more aggressive. You could see it developing under Obama with the BLM groups. I do not particularly blame Trump or Obama, either. That is just how the game of politics goes these days.

The repeated message of "the other side is out to get you" resonates to large groups that want to feel persecuted. BS spewed enough times becomes doctrine to many. Masses are generally idiots, and dangerous.

Most republicans are just going to double down after all of this. Instead of being allowed to have the appropriate disgusted reaction to the white supremacists Knucklek heads ,it became about white guilt and that nonsense again.
Clue in liberals.....people don't want to be told how to feel about things.
That's why you'll lose again in 2020

The left gets loonier. The Democrats will lose by even greater numbers in 2020. And they've got a nice little butt thumping coming in 2018.

People generally like to be told how to feel if they agree with it, and are "disgusted" when they do not. Churches are pretty full on Sundays. I get it, republicans don't want to hear bitching about white supremacists. The white supremacists that tell them how to feel about things just don't trigger the same "disgust."

I think he'll get re-elected, too. And I totally agree most republicans will vote for a white supremacy defender as President because blacks "tell them how to feel." Or whatever reason -- they'll come up with some rationale. Carrying a torch and waving swastikas doesn't motivate them to show up and vote against someone -- but general "white guilt" statements will have them voting for whoever can tap into that anti-white guilt deal. You're totally right.

Nice use of pronouns. Are "you" running in 2020, too?

Yes, Trump clearly defended white supremacists. Clearly. Looks like you got your daily talking points on time shysterkine.

Dude, take a deep breath and take a critical look at the last 4 days. You can't dismiss the criticism of DJT in good conscience even if you object to his detractors blatantly capitalizing on it....

It appears I'm not the only one. He had to disband his business council because they were all resigning. So, who's left outside of his usual toothless, pissed off, conservative horde?

Yep, I actually can. Kindly point to any of his comments that defended white supremacy. Surely you won't come up "dry." Commentary from CNN and HuffPo won't work. Trump's actual words please.

Just because he also called out the basement dwelling bandana toting losers on the left doesn't mean he supports white supremacy. You may choose to minimize what one side has contributed all this time. I won't. Both sides are abhorrent to a guy like me. Grow the f*ck up.

"I'm not putting anybody on a moral plane. What I'm saying is this. You had a group on one side and you had a group on the other, and they came at each other with clubs and it was vicious and it was horrible. And it was a horrible thing to watch.

But there is another side. There was a group on this side, you can call them the left. You've just called them the left — that came violently attacking the other group. So you can say what you want, but that's the way it is."

Deny it all he likes, Trump is equivocating the white supremacists with "the left" - his own words. Just one of several examples of his despicable attempt to have it both ways on this incident.

You advising people to "dumb it down" lest Trumpinistas might be offended? The message I hear isn't about telling people how to feel, it is an attempt to communicate the need for empathy. Agree that is a nuanced message, perhaps more more than some can grasp.

No he's not. He's saying that only one side is being called atrocious while the other is just called the left. When in reality they are both equally disgusting and neither represents "American values."

Now I'm starting to see what some of this fuss is about.

I don't understand how you get to your position in that last paragraph unless it's simply your desired intent to say stuff that's damaging to a President you are outspokenly against.

I know you're not a moron. Taking your stance is willful.

No they are not equally disgusting. One represents a former entrenched part of society seeking to reassert itself celebrating those who fought for the right to own other humans, the other is bunch of wannabe anarchists still living in their mothers basement. Nowhere close to equivalent. This is the essence of Trumps failure.

I willfully reject the validation of the most evil movement of American history. You got that part right.

neo-nazis = disgusting
commies = disgusting

you could even argue commies are worse, over 100M dead.

You're equivicating bad hombres. That's your first step in bad logic.

That isn't what I addressed, so you successfully (?) sidestep critical evaluation of a full response.

That's willful as well.

Should we assume it's because your line of argument doesn't hold up under the disinfectant of transparency and analysis?

What we can assume is you made no real counter point, thus a simple play on the one word that meant something in your reply is appropriate.

Is that a word? You might need to actually make a point here if you think you are ready to add some value.

Sidestepping again? Willful neglection of the spirit of the conversation...you knew what I was saying.

Just like you've done with Trump's words.

Is this your M.O. with your children? Allowing yourself the flexibility to retreat until "it depends on what the meaning of 'is' is" isn't a forthright nor structured environment.

Sidestepping again? Willful neglection of the spirit of the conversation...you knew what I was saying.
You presume too much. That could be because I am an idiot, willfully ignoring your point, or what sounds good in your head isn't translating when typed out. Could be any of the three...

Or playing back a bit of the posters own habits to perhaps give him some pause. Make a point that means something and you will get a response.

Hedged retreat, or, forming a modicum of structure.

We still haven't addressed your preference of one set of bad guys over another.

Maybe that's your take. To many of us, both sides are equally disgusting, but disgusting for different reasons. When either side resorts to violence and destruction, they play on the same field no matter what team they suited up for.

Very simple really.

I have addressed it head on. I think the white supremacists are the worser of the two evils. You disagree?

I think this is interesting.

I tend to think both are wannabe groups living in their parents' basements. I think both just want to break shit and stir the pot to be offensive for the sake of being offensive.

I don't think they are as different as you do.
