I think he answered the question and to your point. It doesn't grow the sport. It's a gimmick. If others think that is the best direction, then go for it. Honestly, if you want to pick on a bad guy in all this, then pick on the NCAA. They have this crazy and arbitrary limit to how many competition dates a team can have. Why?
Completely disagree. It’s same thing as what is going on in professional golf. The more times you can get the top teams together, the more eyeballs it will draw which grows the sport. Doesn’t have to be recognized as a national championship in my opinion; just create competitive matchups.

I have always felt the wrestling should mirror the PGA layout. I was talking about senior level, but hey, why not college too.

This is definitely great for promoting the sport! Anyone that says it isn't, well let's just say I disagree with them.

the Dual format is better for drawing new fans, it makes more sense to those who haven’t been involved in wrestling their entire lives than the normal tournament format does. If you’re looking to grow wrestling and bring in more/new fans the national duals is a great start. Teams and coaches who would skip on this if invited certainly don’t have growing and strengthening the sport on their list of priorities, which is sad seeing what it has provided them.

Well, if Iowa can beat Penn state this year, I won’t say a derogatory word about them, their coaches, the facilities not their fans for the rest of the year.

Ooof. Not sure he should have shared that opinion.
WOW. I am the biggest Hawk fan in the world and that was not very smart. I don’t fault the kid for believing it but, some things are better kept to yourself. I guess he better back it up. I’m not sure how he got so confident from beating the number 19 kid in the country in SV

I love the confidence though

Can he even beat his teammate Ferrari? Not smart and he will probably pay the price.

Parco just cost him by not bailing and taking the three fast. Looks like Spratley lol and he’s gassed now
Penn. St. is dominating Iowa with Lilledahl getting a tech against Cruz, Ayala teched McHenry Bartlett gets a decision over Schriever, Van Ness majors Parko, Kazak decisions Teemer. Be honest Penn. St is our real enemy because we can compete with Iowa but we can't against Penn. St. If they wrestle everybody, we might not score a team point against them.

Mesenbrink is the most impressive wrestler in the nation by far. The dude goes through everyone like they are not even there. Pound for pound the best in the nation.
I agree, a real good wrestler Caliendo number 2 appeared powerless against Mesenbrink. He wins by tech. Haines wins by easy decision over Kennedy. Ferrari lost a close decision to Starocci, Ferrari gave up a stalling point in the 1st period but gained confidence and stuck with Starocci after that. Angelo was very impressive. Buchanon beat Barr 5 to 1 with a takedown at the end of the match. I think Thompson beat Barr in high school in close matches. Barr is up to 197. Kerkvliet beat Keuter by major. Penn. St. appears to be unbeatable.

Maybe the most visually impressive, but definitely not the pound for pound best. 165 is not one of the toughest divisions, so he can't even prove himself to be one of the best p4p. Plus Gable Steveson is wrestling this year.
