So with the knife story (allegedly) to go with the other *alleged* things I’ve heard he did as well as a friend of a friend’s firsthand experience with the family when they lived in Stillwater, Anthony is clearly the most unstable of the 3 brothers right?

Previously committed seems like generous wording. Thought he couldn’t get past university admissions. I guess I could say I was previously committed to be a lot of things that no one else would let me do lol

PSU had a very similar dual meet as you guys did the other day. Guys winded and tired. It was hell week. Davis and SVN deserved to lose, and hopefully learn from the losses, but overall the team was not crisp.

I think he answered the question and to your point. It doesn't grow the sport. It's a gimmick. If others think that is the best direction, then go for it. Honestly, if you want to pick on a bad guy in all this, then pick on the NCAA. They have this crazy and arbitrary limit to how many competition dates a team can have. Why?

The college wrestling dual is one of the most intuitive and entertaining competitions ever conceived for casual sports fans. The only problem is, they are almost totally meaningless. I do not see a November neutral site event where they crown a Busch League "national champion" as adding much meaning. We need to figure out ways to make the duals we are already putting on more meaningful.

One step would be to do away with conference tournaments and let the conference champ be the team with the best dual record. Schedule the big dogs on the last week of the year. Imagine PSU and Iowa wrestling at Carver Hawkeye for a Big 10 title.

To be fair none of this has to do with what’s best for wrestling. Cael (like so many generational talents) is a sociopath. He is incapable of caring about anything outside of his interests. That level of clinical selfishness is what has separated him from everyone else. That entire clip dripped with condescension and was just an opportunity to discredit and delegitimize his traitorous former pupil. People can assume DT will run him down all they want but you don’t have to look any further than this clip to see that Cael ain’t slipping. He doesn’t let anything slide and he won’t let anyone get a foothold. DT better be more than ready when he finally decides to square up because Cael won’t miss.

Baloney - a meaningful dual tournament would be kick ass and everyone would love it. It would be more fun to watch than everything but the ncaa finals. Too many teams in conference to do it right but I think it’d be cool to have the dual season = conf champ then tp 4 champs go at it. Or camps and runners up

The finals suck compared to the blood round.

But to the point, yes, it would go over very well! Nobody is very sure on how to accomplish it to the best option, but it’s sure fun and part of most other levels of Wrestling.

HS Dual state, D2 National duals, etc. are pretty common and super exciting.

It’s obvious why PSU doesn’t like it. They don’t want the status quo to change. They want to keep what’s working for them to continue. They don’t care about anything else. PSU fans will parrot Caels message. It would be best just ignore them and do it with teams who want to do it. If we can do something, even if it helps wrestling a little bit, it’s good.

We’ll see what the rest of the D1 wrestling world wants to do about it. It’d be a lift to organize for sure. If PSU is the only top team not interested, that’ll be telling.

The answer is to have a dual tournament and crown the "team champion" and keep the current tournament to determine "individual champions". I think that is the only way to get all teams to participate. It also values the team rather than a few hammers that get bonus points throughout the tournament.

I have two thoughts on a duel championship. Neither of which were asked for, but y’all are getting them anyway because my wife doesn’t wanna hear it.

The first is that it’ll “matter” as much as participating (and maybe even non-participating) fans make it matter. Regardless of whether or not PSU attends, if OSU won a national title at the event you can bet I’d buy a “National Champions” shirt.

My second thought is that you’d have to get the NCAA to sanction the event and just like NCCowboy said, have individual and team champions, to get some coaches to care. I would imagine coaching contract performance incentives are based on NCAA achievements and not other entities. Get it to where these guys make $$ and I bet everyone quickly starts to care.
