149 Boo #3 TF over Ryan Leasure 9-6

197 Geer #9 MD over Joel Shapiro 19-12

I believe Witcraft could defeat Todd Small and Hone could defeat Ian Parker but on paper the two teams split 5-5 and bonus points will be the difference and we should have more.

At the beginning of the season I would have been shocked if we were within three points of Iowa State and that was figuring in Joe Smith and G. Whitlake, Montalvo, Hone, and Witcraft have exceeded my expectations.

Nice gutty performance by Witcraft to win 9-8 with a 4 point move for the comeback.

Great to see Witcraft finish one against a strong opponent. He was definitely running out of gas at the end but still found a way to win.

Not a great weekend for Dusty. He lost to a weaker opponent last night and was never really in it against Parker.

Joe just needs to stack up wins....this was a much better match up for him. The kid from UNI had too much pace for Joe he hasn't wrestled as much so far this season.

Joe looked much better against a quality opponent. How long has Colbray been wrestling 174? I thought that he had wrestled 197 at the big 12 previously.

Yesterday'sl losers become the heroes of this matchup starting with Witcraft. Reese lives by the sword (throws) and dies by the sword. A couple of his upper body attempts cost him takedowns but he came back at the end-good for him! Joe was the much better wrestler but even with all of his finesse had trouble converting about 8 ankle picks to takedowns. He really wore Colbray down at the end. Very happy for Montalvo who looked rugged, dogged and pumped to defeat a wrestler ranked ahead of him. With Pic and Dakota picking up majors and another solid performance from Wittlake we went a ways in erasing the nightmare of yesterday.

LETS GO POKES!!!

Another message board said G is done for the year.

Strange year for G. It seems like there are about 10 different stories floating around to explain his absence. After he pinned Lee at the Scuffle his freshman year, I had hopes that he could be a national champion at some point. We really need him to come around next year. Hopefully he can get things figured out this offseason.

John Smith told us before the Pitts burgh telecast that neither Brock nor Gfeller will return this year. Hone will be the 141 for remainder of season

Damn ... this G thing is crazy. Never really saw this coming. If they can end up getting him an extra year it is probably a good thing but I would imagine that will be tough.

He at one point did injure his ankle so I’m sure they will lean on that. It does seem like these things are being granted easier these days.

If they can get it (and G can get his stuff together) him not wrestling this year could actually be a good thing.

My gut feeling he has a serious injury or he would be wrestling this year. Could be that he might be not as focused as he cannot wrestle, but G has shown the ability to focus when it is time. Hope we have a strong guy that can get down to 125. I have no idea how much Witcraft pulls to make it to 133, but if it is much 125 is not possible. It would be best if we could utilize Redshirts where wrestlers are fairly equal next year.
