Remember back when several of you guys had a full on boner for him.

Sean Hannity: “Can you say to the American people, unequivocally, that you did not get this information about the DNC, John Podesta’s emails, can you tell the American people 1,000 percent you did not get it from Russia or anybody associated with Russia?”

Julian Assange: Yes,” “We can say — we have said repeatedly — over the last two months that our source is not the Russian government and it is not a state party.”

He went on to blame DNC staffer Seth Rich.

Oh boy did you guys gobble it up. Even saying the DNC had him knocked off.

Or own NZ Poke posted this:

Now we learn from yesterday that Assange was a liar and 100% of the documents came from the Russians.

You guys looked, got hard and then learned it really a Thai lady boy that got you so excited.

Yea I also remember all the libs buying into the ex-rodent in chiefs proclamation that if I want to keep my doctor I can and if I want to keep my plan I can keep it. So what’s the point.

I never figured that JA was some type of all knowing and truthful dude sent down to save humanity. So he lied and people fell for it, not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. What really should be the subject of discussion is not the who but the what, as in some of the latently racist crap that was contained in the emails, among other things.

Two inescapable truths here for those with the 30 watt bulbs instead of the standard 120.
1. Why didn’t the ex-rodent in chief raise the alarm when they knew this was going on, instead of waiting until after the carpet muncher HRC was defeated?
2. Why didn’t the DNC allow their servers to be inspected once there was a realization that “entities” were actively trying to hack computers/servers?

The final irony is how many forget that the POS ex-rodent in chief got elected because the incumbents sealed custody documents were released, leading Ryan to drop out of the race.

Nice article that really illustrates how utterly reckless and incompetent a number of players were/are in this whole hacking deal.

“In January, 2016 a former State department official walked into the FBI with what they felt was smoking gun evidence in the Clinton email investigation which was so sensitive he wouldn't talk about it unless it was in a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility). “

“Accompanying the evidence, the whistleblower wrote a letter to former FBI Director James Comey describing Hillary Clinton's mishandling of clearly marked classified material. Comey ignored it - which led the whistleblower to file a complaint that Peter Strzok and FBI agent Jonathan Moffa were CC'd on.”

Here's another walk through Mr. Assange's stunts:

You can set your watch by them falling in love with these types. They used to really lap up Alex Jones, too.

Has he ever outed Russia for anything?

Seems to me that you are comparing apples to oranges.

On one side, we have politics as usual. Sometimes political promises don’t come to fruition. Sometimes the politician makes promises that bend the truth. This has been the case since the beginning of civilization. Additionally. Some times politicians are not very good at what they do, and they make mistakes. Also true since the beginning of politics.

On the other side, you have a faction buying into complete propaganda, eating it up like candy, and disseminating it with other members of the faction. When it is pointed out to them that the information doesn’t even pass the most basic rules of logic (Seth was Guccifer, and the Clintons had him murdered, along with a gaggle of their other enemies, Pizzagate, etc), they find a way to ignore and rationalize so they can continue to lap up the propaganda.

I clearly remember many posters totally buying into Asange”s lies, and posting more lies about Rich, despite me, and others, posting that the whole story was completely unrealistic. It never even made sense, but some of you wanted to believe it so badly. I am not saying that this applies to all of the conservatives on this site, but the lack of ability to think for yourselves, rather than buying into BS groupthink, is shocking in some cases.

With that said, it probably should not be surprising. Among any population, you are going to have a small percentage of individuals who are very prone to propaganda, and lacking in the ability to recognize when they are falling victim to it. In the case off this site, where you have a population that is 90+% conservative, it makes sense that those individuals would be more visible on the conservative side.

Of course it makes it even worse when you have an individual like NaZi Poke who goes out of his way to find the propaganda/conspiracy theories and disseminate it to the masses.

/end rant

Been, I can’t speak to what others did or didn’t believe with respect to the things you mentioned. There will always be people who believe the standard conspiracy theory now and then or go whole hog for every theory that bolsters their innate beliefs. Hell I still know people who think the moon landing was staged in the Atacama Desert.

Personally always thought the Seth Rich deal was too convenient, although plausible. Can’t speak much to the pizza gate deal as I don’t even remember the discussion. Anymore the line is so blurred it’s hard to keep up with what is true, what is misleading and what is an outright lie. What bothers me now is that the same people pointing fingers at 12 Russians are the same people/organizations who think its okay to bend the edges on FISA requests or to spy on Americans. In reality and because I vociferously watch crime shows (first 48 is my favorite) it’s also more likely that Seth Rich was viewed as an easy target for money, tennis shoes, phone or whatever and was killed and we’ll probably never know why.

Conservatives aren’t the only ones guilty of group think BTW and really the value of anyone’s opinion is directly related to how much time they want to spend looking at a variety of sources for some type of validation or reassessment.

Politics has become toxic not because most of them lie with every word they speak but they are gigantic hypocrites to boot. Politics has become a business and no longer seen as a service.

He wouldn't be able to survive in that morass.

I'm probably being to cynical. There might be a few reasonable politicians in DC. Men/women who are actually patriots, and do what they do for public service rather than being primarily concerned about lining their own pockets.

Maybe.

So are these documents still real or just fake news?

@NZ Poke

As far as I recall, I was one of the small handful of posters on here (Guns was another) who was always consistent that Trump had an extremely high likelihood of winning the election.

They weren't blind predictions and I never made guarantees -- but I never wavered for a solid year.

People on this board will vouch for my consistency about Trump and his chances of winning (including during the various "this is the End of Trump" moments - like above), and it's also that way in real life.

I have a core group of republicans in my life who never thought Trump would win (like my Dad) --- whenever I'm around them today I can always go "who was right?" while pointing to myself and laughing (and they'll -all vouch for it and say "you were") -- I was one of the only people who always knew.

They (like a few of you) called me a "conspiracy theorist" because of the "strange" sources of my information -- but I was the one who was right in the end.

So in that sense, while sometimes I can be incorrect, I stand tall on the biggest issue of all. (The 2016 election)

I don't recall having and discussions with you during the election period.

Care to explain how you “suddenly” recalled me predicting Hillary would win over a year after admitting that you didn’t recall have any discussions with me during the election period (five months after inauguration)?

Ready to admit you made it up out of whole cloth?

Ready to retract it?

Ready to admit lying about it?

No I wouldn’t Been.....what drives me crazy about the whole 2 party setup is the unabashed CYA’s that go on. For instance when Democrats/libs run up the deficit it’s bad, per republican/conservatives but when republicans/conservatives run it up its necessary and good. To some degree I see why (but by no means agree with) party leaders touting the difference and wether it’s good or bad depending on the party. But as a run of the mill rep/senator how can you possibly defend that? Actually you’re almost forced to or you’ll be squashed like a bug....no chairmanships, probably no party endorsements and so on. It’s sickening!

Now you have Democratic senators telling Trump to not meet with Putin, yet during the ex-rodent in chiefs terms they had no problems doing the reset button deal and extolling the virtue of a new arms treaty which saw the US sacrifice more than the Russians. Even now how can Russia suddenly become the biggest existential threat in the last 18 months without being the same for the previous administration?

There probably are some honest politicians left on the national level, but few (if any) are in leadership positions. Instead they are down the line a ways and are compelled to entrench themselves in the parties official line even when’s its obvious the party leaders are being gigantic hypocrites. Add in the media’s agenda and bias it’s almost impossible to get a clear and concise “view,” which sadly affects the whole country and drives many towards their rigid beliefs. This is borne out repeatedly when someone attributes an opponents idea as an idea their party/guy put forth.

I’ve been consistent in saying that there probably are only two ways out of this dilemma. One, the US Balkanizes and or two, a states convention to amend/add to the constitution (term limits being at the top of the list). A distant third would be for an end to the 24/7 news cycle on the tube, don’t see that happening though. I think a limit to the endless streams of money going into individual politicians/special interest coffers would help immeasurably.

A few political quotes to lighten the day....

“Only one thing to it: a strong stomach. The guts to gladhand a man you're going to stab in the back; pledge allegiance to principles you stomp on every day; righteously denounce some despot in the press and sell him arms under the table. The talent to whip up the voters' worst passions while you seem to call on their highest instincts, and the sense to stay wrapped in the flag. That's politics: I'll take the simple life.
Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais,

The difference between a politician and a statesman is that a politician thinks about the next election while the statesman think about the next generation.”
James Freeman Clarke

“If politicians stopped meddling with things they don't understand, there would be a more drastic reduction in the size of government than anyone in either party advocates.”
Thomas Sowell
