Has the game passed Gundy by after 20 seasons? If so, is Gundy aware of it? What else has been going on behind the scenes?
Gundy was 0-9 in conference this year without OU or Texas (after returning 20 of 22 starters from last year's 10 win team, which was the most in division 1). His bowl streak was snapped after 18 straight seasons.
What happens to Gundy and his staff during the off-season? What do you hope happens?
At this point, the best case scenario would be for Gundy to graciously retire and NOT set back the university with a huge buyout. Then Gundy could move into a media role like Nick Saban and share his knowledge with the world. He does have some great insights on NIL salary caps, limiting the portal or signing contracts, and how to deal with the fake defensive injuries that is plaguing college football and slowing the game down. Additionally, Gundy can be funny and witty, plus it would be a great opportunity for him to pump up his alma mater with free publicity and marketing.
However, Gundy's PRIDE will not allow him to step away and retire. The best thing players and fans can hope for is major staff changes for next season, but I doubt that happens unless FORCED by administration. I do see Gundy's tenure and legacy ending badly at oSu after next season because he refuses to make the necessary changes to his staff, again. This would likely result in a firing for "Just Cause" and end up in an ugly legal battle.
For those wondering why is Gundy on a short leash considering his "success" at oSu over the last 18 years? Here is your answer. Gundy makes $7.75 million which is more than the average NFL coach who makes $6.60 million. In 20 years, Gundy has been to 18 straight bowl games but only has 1 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP & 0 PLAYOFF APPEARANCES. Additionally, he is among the 15 highest paid coaches in college football and is the highest paid coach in the Big 12.
Gundy is also a HYPOCRITE and the players may see this, which is possibly why some of the players may have given up on the team. It has been noted in the media that Gundy gets upset and agitated about the money aspect of college athletes, but everyone can also see that Gundy has taken every opportunity during his tenure to push for a pay raise to the point where he is grossly overpaid.
Then you have Gundy calling out some of the fan base this year instead of calling out himself.
Gundy needs to self-examine himself, but that'll never happen because of his PRIDE!!! However, he would rather burn the program down to the ground to prove to everyone that he is right than to admit his faults and step aside (that takes humility). I have ZERO confidence that Gundy is going to play nicely and do what is best for the university.

Why Mike Gundy's DUI comments are insane thing for college football coach to say
Mike Gundy’s explanation of why he isn’t suspending Oklahoma State’s star running back Ollie Gordon over a recent DUI completely lacks common sense.

Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy still speaking his mind after 20 years as head football coach
In year 20 at Oklahoma State, Mike Gundy is perhaps the most unfiltered head coach in college football.
