I doubt if Israel thought 30 missiles hitting them felt like a popcorn fart. No, I did not see where NATO countries all agreed to raise their defense spending to 5%. Actually I thought they said they'd do that in Trump's last administration. I'm sure they really really really mean it this time. No, I don't remember "all" the critics saying it was ridiculous. What did they say was ridiculous? That they said they'd do it or they had the economic capability to do it?
If you read anything beyond MAGA propaganda you would know that many "experts" were saying it would be in Iran's best interest to continue to concentrate on Israel, continue their "Russia-style" war of attrition, empty Israel's defenses and watch Israel call for peace. Israel's military is apparently created for quick "shock and awe" strikes, decapitate the enemy and bulldoze them into submission. It was not created to last through wars of attrition. Netanyahu gambled everything he had that his early strike would succeed. When it didn't he calculated he could lure Trump to come save his bacon. Trump bit, and now we're in for a fight similar to what we endured in Afghanistan. Gee, I wonder how war weary American voters will respond. If Iran does indeed close the Straight of Hormuz while Yemen shuts down all shipping in the Red Sea we will see a potential western-wide economic collapse. That would far exceed a popcorn fart. Trump allowed our NeoCons in concert with Netanyahu to potentially put us in a serious bind. We shouldn't be surprised. We've known for a long time the man is not very bright and puts into action the last thing he hears someone tell him. Personally I am dismayed that I ever thought Trump would be superior to Harris' handlers. They at least never let Netanyahu lure them into war with Iran. And boy did he try!
The US is currently deeply involved in a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, weakening our defensive capabilities when we thought it would weaken Russia, not us. Now our Dear Leader has gotten us into a war with Iran, a close ally of both Russia and China, both of whom have agreements with Iran to come to their aid if necessary. If history tells us anything it's that wars cannot be won until there are combat boots in action. Israel most certainly would get its butt kicked if it tried to invade with soldiers. That means if it's going to happen it will have to be the US. You good with that? How long did it take before we tucked our tail between our legs and retreated from Afghanistan to lick our wounds? Add a few years if we do the same stupid thing in Iran. So while we're involved in fighting Russia in Ukraine and Iran in the Middle East, what do you think the odds are that China would seize the opportunity to overwhelm Taiwan? Damn! Trump is a magnificent leader of the free world!
