Neat Tax Breakdown

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/16/her...osers-in-the-tax-bill-heading-for-a-vote.html

Neat tax breakdown on this site. The one that got me was that we will save $30Billion in government outlays just by requiring SSN# for the Child care credit. What scares me is that that means we are currently spending $30B in child care credits for children without SSNs.
Pile that on top of the economic boom that amnesty for the DACA folks was supposed to bring us. Turns out that will cost more than $26 billion...

Oh so now Newsweek is nervous about adding 1.5 Trillion in debt, but not a peep out of them when the ex-rodent in chief added more than all other presidents together.

Sorry this article is bullshit BTW, as every other country won't lower their marginal rate to compete with this tax cut. That's conjecture and if they really believed that it would have been backed up by quotes from "all" those government officials.

Lastly, the republicans are doing this for their wealthy benefactors....yea got us there. The dems/libs have no wealthy benefactors right? I mean when's the last time a republican has given a speech to say Goldman Sacs for $250K and a donation to their non-profit fund.

The education system, actually lack of, rests squarely on lack of local control and regulations that burn through money quicker than Lawrence Taylor did while on crack.

Newsweek needs to go find starving Polar Bears as the news quit being their strong suit years ago.

And don't skip over the point that says corporations will use their extra cash to buy back shares (e.g., putting money in the hands of individuals) and then two paragraphs later says that individuals won't receive any benefit.

I'm ambivalent about the plan. Knowing Robert Reich doesn't like it is starting to tip the scales towards "pro", however.

I’m not a fan of the process ingetting this rammed through by Christmas, but I too am otherwise pretty ambivalent.

I know. But this is the norm now for Congress. You can thank Pelosi and the ObamaCare fast track (in order to beat Scott Brown to office) for setting the precedent.

1) The ACA had a significant amount of Republican influence, several amendments, and actual committee debate.

2) They had plenty of votes for it without any seat vacancies that would’ve been nays.

Not a good comparison here.

My recollection is that the only Republican amendments which were incorporated into the ACA were procedural. There were zero substantive amendments from the Pubs allowed in the ACA by the Dems.

Obamacare fast track?

Seriously?

ACA:
-debated in three House Committees and two Senate committees
-over 130 amendments introduced
-79 different roll call votes
-25 straight days of debate befor passage.

ACA didn’t set a precedent for the process that Republicans are using here. Not even close. Go try to sell that to someone less knowledgeable of the history....because that dog won’t hunt for someone who knows the facts.

Just amazing how easily people pile onto one out of context, partially quoted line in a speech that focused on long term benefits of ACA as if it is what defines the facts of how the legislation was developed, debated, and ultimately passed.
