125: Picc vs Lizak Picc on a roll, and as strange as it sounds, seems he has made a big jump. Needs to be careful on bottom. OSU 3-0
133: Brock vs McKee Kaid hasnt been sharp, so only a decision here. 6-0 (unless McKee is out training for FS U-23, then 8-0)
141: Heil is Heil-9-0
149: Geo vs Bleise- Bleise keeps things close, but Geo wrestling for his spot every time out 12-0
157: Jonce vs Short Minny's best chance of a win, I think. 12-3
165: Rogers vs Wanzek: Chandler has way too much 16-3
174: Jacobe vs Pfarr Jacobe has proven he can compete with anyone 19-3
184; Moore vs Webster-Open up and score! 23-3
197: Marsden vs B. Stevenson. If Andrew doesn't outsmart himself 27-3
HWT: White vs Streifel-I want Derek to make me a believer 30-3

Strange as it seems, I can picture either a shutout or 21-12. Good guys win.

I can see it 19-12 but I don't think it will be that close.
As Harley can attest I am usually smelling he orange blossoms but I am not as optimistic as Cowboyup61. I think it will be a close match and we could lose.
125 Yes Pic is on a roll but this is a matchup problem and Pic is a small 125 pounder and Lizak is a big 133 pounder. Pic will be able to get in on Lizak but doubtful he can score. In the upset I give this to Lizak. Minnesota could get a major here. but I predict a loss for Pic
by regular decision 0-3
133 Brock is not wrestling well and Mitch McKee always wrestles to the extent of his ability. Brock is a better wrestler so I give a close decision to Kaid.3-3
141 Heil with a decision 6-3.
149 Geo dec. Bleise 9-3.
157 Short by a major 9-7
165 Rogers dec. Wanzek 12-7
174 Jacobe over Pfarr in a decision 15-7
184 Close match and a decision for Moore if he wrestles 18-7.Otherwise 15-10.
197 Steveson dec. Marsden 15-13.
285 This looks to be a toss up match but I like the way Derek has been wrestling and give him a 1 point decision. 18-13.
A couple of close matches IMO and if they go in Minnesota's favor they could win the dual.
I would love to be more optimistic but I am leery of this match.

I also agree Obe especially at 125

Lizak totally wore Picc out on top last season. Hopefully Picc has improved enough to get off of bottom but we will see

I'd also agree with his assessment. And Picc is improved but so is Lizak, might come down to who is managing their weight best given first match in the dual. The one I'm worried about is 165. He showed again last weekend that still willing to put himself in a position and lose a match when there's absolutely no reason to get in such a position.

125: Picc avenges another loss. Lizak fades late. 3-0
133: Rivalry continues. Kaid up and down so far, McKee wrestling well. Kaid takes the high scoring match at home. 6-0
141: Dean in a controlled bout over Thorn. 9-0
149: Geo renewed after losing to Heilmann. Beats Bleise. 12-0
157: Jonce is a battler. Wears down Short for the victory. 15-0
165: Chandler goes for the pin early and often, then finds himself in a tight match. Wanzek wins a close one. 15-3
174: Jacobe too much for little Pfarr. 18-3
184: Battle of Minnesotans. Is Keegan focused and committed? Webster wins this one. 18-6
197: Andrew struggling so far this season. Big Steveson wins. 18-9
285: Derek over a solid Streifel. 21-9 Pokes.

Lizak is a bad matchup for Pic but is a big 125 and struggles with his weight especially early in the season. That coupled with the improvement of Pic makes me think we start this dual out with a big win!

Unless Lizak gets on top early i see Picc winning

Martinez should beat Bleise but gotta watch out for the throws
The closer to the match my orange glasses light up more strongly. Watched Lizak against an unknown freshman completely run out of gas. Pic needs to weather a strong start by Lizak and I believe he will dominate the match. Kaid comes alive for the home crowd and based on past experience he is too talented for McKee. Heil will do what he does best and that is win. Geo is quick and talented and will outwrestle Bleise. I still believe Short will win but he is not aggressive and Blaylock just needs to make solid shots and look for an opportunity to win at the end. It should be a low scoring match. Chandler will pull out all the stops but Wanzek is strong and I look for a 4-5 point win here by the most exciting cowboy. Jacobe too quick and strong for Pfarr. He will give up points to Pfarr but in the end will be too much for the Minnesotan. Toss up match at 184 and maybe too close to call. Steveson vs. Marsden could be the best match of the night. Andrew could dominate with his funk and all out style. Steveson is average in his ability but strong and quick and could take advantage of Andrew's aggression. I like Andrew to please the crowd with some aggressive moves and win going away. Derek White continues to impress me and will be too much for Striefel as he is stronger, quicker and has shown much more aggression this year. You are entitled to say Oberebo is wishy-washy if you compare my two posts and you would be correct but OK State Pride usually overcomes my thinking in these matches.
LETS GO POKES!!!

I watched the gopher matches last night.... Lizak is tough. If he gets to Piccs leg, he will finish. Picc will struggle with scoring via leg shots. Can Picc get out from bottom? Lizak was a little gassed at the end, can Picc stay off bottom and push the pace? Marko went at 149... not sure if Bleise is on the trip. Short didn't show me much at 157, should be a close match. Chance looked bad last weekend. Marsden will get outhorsed at 197. Stevenson did tire at the end of the match, the SDSU kid was a gamer. Looking forward to going to the match with my Mom, Dad, and youngest daughter.

Finish takedowns unlike SDSU could in a few matches and it may not be close

When Picc finished the first two takedowns clean, thought we were going to get him. Didn't really follow what was laid out for him on bottom, and paid the price. Best thing was that he still had gas in the tank at the end!

Jonce Blaylock wrestled a smart match and turned that result around for us. Opened up the door.

Wish Dean would score that takedown in the first minute, and two or three more during the match. Also was hoping Derek White would open up a little more, but I will take the wins.

Minnesota was not agressive at all. We are in much better shape than is typical for mid-November. Get Weigel back and that may allow Marsden to go back to a better weight for him, but he looks well fed and happy at 197.

An interesting take on Heil's match from John:

"After unwinding from the match, Heil was decked in black OSU gear, shouting commands to wrestlers on the mat, much like coach John Smith does during the course of a dual.

“The way he looked in his match, I needed something out of him,” Smith said as he looked toward Heil, who stood a few feet away. “More than what he did in his first two periods. Hello!

“His first two periods, really I was thinking of going to the concession stands and getting something.”

Maybe a little sarcasm/humor mixed in with his message?

Easy to second guess... but picc had all the momentum and looked superior on his feet.... wish he would of gone neutral in 2nd rather then defer. Feel like he could of stretched the lead even more and potentially broke Lizak.

Lizak choose top
He's saying that Picc shouldn't have deferred to Lizak in the second and chose neutral to try to widen the lead. When Lizak would have ultimately chose top in the third, it might have been too big of a lead to come back from, especially if Lizak was gassed.

I thought he plan worked and was working fine. Picc gave up a lazy TD in the 3rd on the edge which is what lost him the duel. He was the better wrestler on the feet and was up 8-7 despite being turned twice in the 2nd.

If he wasn't up 8-1 I think he may have taken neutral in the second.

I am sure that Piccininni wants to be better than Lizak and every other wrestler at 125 in all three positions. Their match was important for later seedings but it is also important that he get better from the bottom position. It didn’t turn out the way he wanted but he had to take bottom at least once in this match. Especially in a November dual with the dual outcome not in question.
